Anyone else busy planting outside?

South, TX

We have been buying A LOT of new flowers, soil, etc. for fall planting. Time to plant the flowers that last until it heats up next summer. This is my FAVORITE TIME! Nicer weather for being outside.

We bought more flowers today and I planted, replacing summer ones. I have more to do but I am slowly getting it done.

We voted today, I am SO glad. It has been really crowded every time I tried. We went to Half Price Books to vote, too long of a line. Then, we went to the mall. Was nice there, not too long of a line and much more room.

HUGE turnout every day. My son and I were going to vote at Bay Area hosp, but it had a long line yesterday.

We are getting everything set for the hard freeze tomorrow night :(

I'm just waiting for everything to finish frying . . . er, drying so I can go out and collect seeds. Since my AV obsession began, I have neglected my seed collecting . . . that is what a majority of my time off from work in the middle of next week will be . .

Hi all, I am posting this again here--there is a glove co-op going on at
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/915248/
these are for the atlas gloves--Folks-- these are the BEST gloves for yard work. I bought my first ones in the last co-op and am hooked. The prices are good--the are great -- thin--but protective--check it out!! (great stocking stuffers too)

Lynn, I'd say late March would be safe to start putting things out here . . . I usually check the almanac, then start planting 2 weeks before (I'm WAY too impatient!).

Thanks!! Didn't mean to hijack the thread. He was here recently and was fascinated by plants with black foliage,so I'll send him some around planting time.

I'm just taking a cool off break. Hubby and I are working in the yard again. He is mowing, etc. Putting more soil in the flower beds and I am planting. It really looks like a plant nursery! Wish I had taken a pic. before planting. Takes a lot of flowers to fill all of the areas I change. I have lots of perennials too, but always lots of annuals to plant each season. This is our best time to plant.

I just spent some time collecting seeds from my morning glories and 4 o'clocks. Also took some cuttings of my peppermint. Don't know why . . . don't like peppermint . . . and now I'm all itchy . . . does smell nice, I suppose . . .

I love all kinds of mint! Smells wonderful.

I am in again now. We worked so hard. I took a hot bath and now I am resting. Hubby is making dinner. Tomorrow I will do lots of planting. I bought more pretty flowers today, lots of snapdragons etc.

oh....I WISH! (To have a yard that looks like that this time of year!)

We had snow yesterday and strong cold winds!
Snow stuck to the windows on the vehicles.

Sometimes I wonder why I live here, LOL! Then I remember! (Ü)

I have not had to stop gardening in winter exept a couple of places I lived. I didn't like snow and ice and waiting to have my flowers etc. Like I said, I do like to visit the snow, ski, sled, walk in the mts. in the snow, but not for months at home. In Cal. we were two hours from skiing etc, and I could have my blooming garden all year. That was nice.

I just came in again from planting my fountain flower bed. Did lots of work. Lots left, but it is looking great. I have the sprinkler system on. It is in the 70's again today, so it is perfect, but we sure need rain.

I love these plants, they are med, sized bushes now. Musical Notes.
