Hello all,
Just had the first bloom of the fall on my P. Anastasia. I counted 8 more buds, and it looks like there will be a multi-bloom day or two. This one definitely prefers the cooler weather (60s and 70s), as opposed to our 80 and 90-degree summer heat. It struggles through the summer looking somewhat sickly, and then starts growing around mid-September. Last year I only got one flower on this plant, in December, and the color was a bit different.

Thanks everyone! Kay, I got mine from Grassy Knolls. There is another similar one called Pink Festival. We are having a couple of nights of temps in the 40s, so I hope the buds don't drop. The second flower opened Sunday, but I forgot to take a pic.

Here's the third bloom so for. Most of the buds dropped with the cool weather we just got, but another should open this weekend.

The last flower opened a few days ago--all of the other buds dropped after we had a few nights in the 40s.

Even though there were only 4 flowers, I was able to successfully pollinate two of them with nephrodes pollen. One of them dropped. Here's the other. I hope it makes it!

Hi Paul,
Yes I have a Lady Margaret, and it is nearly out of control! I tried pollinating it with nephrodes pollen, but it didn't work.

Thanks for the info. My LM is blooming profusely, but the nephrodes is still getting ready for another round. Should be a week or so. Previously I had bud pollinated the LM with nephrodes pollen around mid-day (6 buds I think). The buds opened the next day, and the pollination wasn't successful. I didn't try to pollinate opened flowers, but will do so when the nephrodes blooms again. Earlier this summer I had successfully bud pollinated the LM with caerulea pollen. I never really tried to pollinate the LM open flowers, since I have read that hybrids have to be bud pollinated. But it certainly doesn't hurt to try, so I'll do so when the nephrodes blooms again.

My nephrodes bloomed again this weekend, so I used its pollen to open pollinate some LM flowers. We'll see how that goes. The LM flowers were opening late, closing early, and not releasing any pollen. I think they don't like the cooler weather we are having. So the nephrodes went unpollinated. My nephrodes is next to my sprucei, and they are seriously intergrown. I've gonna have to seperate them soon. I took some cuttings on Friday, hopefully they will root.

It survived a few nights in the mid 40s without problems, but dropped its buds. It is a second year plant.

the nephrodes pollen is yellow.
Wonderful link Paul. I plan on doing some shopping :) It's going to be a hard choice on which ones to purchase.
