Labor of love for gardening

Bryan, TX(Zone 8b)

I had to move all my beloved roses and my entire xeriscaped garden to my boyfriend's house. Talk about a labor of pure love for my treasured plants!

Row two of the roses. All chosen for fragrangance and desease resistance. Most all from Antique Rose Emporium and Arbor Gate which are both close to my house relatively speaking.

Great job! What all do you have growing in that xersicaped garden

Batface, Goblin flowers. Cassia Alata, Salivia, Lantana, Bluebonnets, Duranta, Esperanza, Butterfly Weed, Butterfly Bush, Summer Snapdragon- Angel Flower 'AngelMist Lavender', foxglove, purple coneflowers and Red Flare Hibiscus. I think most of the Texas Superstars might thrive in Arizona. I water mine once a month and that is it.

Yes a lot of your plants do well here!

There is a foxglove superstar?! Wow, I'll have to look that one up, does it bloom in summer, or is it just that it won't actually die over the summer? Most foxgloves that I'm aware of are cool season plants. I treat them like annuals when I plant them. Just bought six the other day @ Arbor Gate.

It's not on The List as I fondly call it. I just bought the foxglove Friday at the A&M Horticulture clearance sale. I asked them for xeriscape friendly plants and they sold me the Foxy Foxglove, Maroon BlueBonnets, correopsis and coneflowers. They told me the foxglove reseeds like crazy, so pinch the heads off if I didn't want more.

By the way, I just LOVE Arbor Gate!!

Maron bluebonents? I am off to look that one up!!

Ok I now need to get a hold of Flare Rose Mallow Hibiscus and Lupinus texensis 'Texas Maroon' Any ideas?

Impressive project, loveisagypsy. I hope you'll continue posting pics along the way. Looks like you're having a blast.

Personally, I just love getting plants in the ground in the fall and then watch them take off in the spring.

Superstars, xeriscaping, and disease resistance plants; the secrets to success! Oh, and the elbow grease.

Okay, good. Foxy Foxglove, I'll have to look for it. Yeah, I checked out their website yesterday when I read your post, I didn't think I had ever seen a foxglove listed there. So, do you know if it is or will be available to the general public in the future? Did they say when it blooms? Color? (Probably Aggie maroon, lol.)

The Horticulture Department has Spring and Fall sales, and each usually has a clearance the weekend following the big sale. Honestly, it's rather crazy. You would not believe how the people act at the sales, much like football players and soccer moms. I say that with the greatest affection though.

I love the way everything is going to look along that rail fence. I have to ask about your DG name do you have the gypsy drum horses?

Bryan, TX(Zone 8b)

I wish I did, but no. It's a line from the opera Carmen. Love is gypsy that has no name..... it's my user name just about everywhere. Running joke as I'm the only unmarried kid, grandkid, great grandkid, ya know. That rail will be invisible by next summer, those roses are going to take over :)

LOL, ok, It's now apparent that I love daft horses more then opera.

I'm sure bits of the fence will peek through. One of my all time favorite looks is pink roses grown on old silver wood:0) classic.
