brugmansia Lucifer in Flush

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

FINALLY, I am getting some good blooms this year.
'Lucifer' just starting flush. Blooms stick straight out on this one.
And, yes, it is yellow.

Research what Lucifer means, and you will think differently.

Those are some extremely strong aurea genes pushing out of this one. Can we get a seed pod picture yet to see how pure this one is attempting to be? Either way, I can think of several good crosses with this one. I don't have my glasses on right now, but even without them...I'm tempted to think this one is a pure aurea. Good cross!

how beautiful ! Lucky You! She is an absolute treasure! Congrats!

Back with my glasses on and this one looks even better. Can we get a picture of the calyx as well?

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

Sure Eric, I will get you a calyx picture today ..lol
This brugmansia is different and what I like to achieve.
How are things in Belgium?

I don't have much to report in Belgium. I'm finding out how hard it is to hybridize Brugmansia in Belgium... that much is for sure. Bringing in your plants and trying to keep them from freezing makes you loose so many seed pods that it would be depressing if I didn't pay special attention to the crosses I love the most. You have to be much more selective in cold area's when your hybridizing and thats a good thing... even if it is a bit disappointing at times. To put it more bluntly, I appreciate the extra effort that goes into creating a hybrid such as this in your climate as it is much more work in your area than down south.

Just beautiful Alice! Please tell me you have a yellow brug that is not prone to insect damage. Does she have a great scent as well?

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

Lucifer has little insect damage. To me, it is one of the most resistant to insects here.
Yes, she has a great fragrance.

Eric, I could not find a seed pod photo for you in my photos.
So I did some crosses for you today so for you to see shortly.
