Your preference on Vanilla ??

I did a quick search on Vanilla, and found this thread interesting...

When i was in my 20's, someone had given me some Mexican vanilla, and it was just wonderful
no more cheap imitation stuff for my baked goods. Then about 10 yrs ago, i found Madagascar Vanilla and thought i had died and gone to heaven.

I think i purchased an 8oz bottle for $11 at William Sonoma. When that ran out, i went back to get more and the price jumped to $30 [i think there was some natural disaster at that time that hurt the vanilla industry]
*yikes* so i took a pass.

about 5 yrs ago, I was visiting my mom who lives about 45 min north of the Mexican Boarder .... so when we were down there, i purchased some vanilla at one of those touristy shops [not sure if it was "real" or not] but it was still pretty good.

now i am completely out of vanilla - except for what i purchased at the grocery store ... and i need some good [REAL] vanilla.

I had asked my kids ... [the one gf shops at W S] so i told her to pop in and grab me a bottle... low and behold, the local William Sonoma closed!!

So - now i guess I will have to buy off the internet. The W S [nielsen massey] vanilla is $19 a bottle - and i have not checked into s/h yet. and the Mexican Vanilla is a bit cheaper....

anyone have an opinion on which is better, or are they close enough that either will do??

TIA,

Terese
