OKay, we are now getting into the latter part of October and the temps are starting to dip... so I went out and cut back this Brug.. (my only Brug !) I got several cuttings above the "Y" that are 16" to 2' long... Can I cut them back into smaller, more numerous cuttings? Another question... Should I remove the leaves? All or should I leave some of the tinier leaves? And should I keep them in water to root them, or put them in soil? What kind of soil?
It is one that I have no idea of he name, but I have toted this one around for awhile until we built our present home... It comes back from the root each year so far... but I mulch it with a lot of leaves... abut a foot and a half deep... then in spring rake back the leaves and voila, up it comes...
Now, would anyone else like a cutting? Would anyone like to trade cuttings?
Thanks for you help..
Carolyn
Brug Cuttings
Yes, you can cut it into smaller cuttings. I have recieved some that are 8 inches, and so far doing well. They leaves will automatically fall off, so just go ahead and pull them off now. Keep them in water with a little peroxide, until you plant them.
I have 12 brugs, but have not cut any back yet, and don't have the room for any more. I know someone will be hear real soon and ask for them.
Good luck.

I would put a tsp in a jar. Not much, but you need to change it daily to keep it fresh.

I would love a cutting....I can see if Xena has anything to cut that wouldn't be green...or maybe take a peek at my trade list and dmail me w/something that's of interest to you. The scent of yours sounds wonderful...can you smell her a few feet away or do you have to be close to the blooms. Sorry for all the questions...
Oh, in nice weather and if my windows are open, I can smell them inside the house even... It is on the edge of my deck in back of the house...
Dmail me your address and I will be happy to send you a cutting... and I will take a peek at your trade list as well...

Here is a real nice article here on Daves about brug cuttings. Lots of info here.

If you have any to spare I would like one. I only have the one brug that I got at a roundup but do not know what kind it is. I do have a small branch that I popped into the pot that is starting to root if you want it. I also have a varigated houseplant that reminds me of a spider plant on steroids. It kind of looks like a cross between one of those rosette forming snake plants and a spider plant. Also may be able to find some magic lily bulbs. These are the ones that send up foilage in the spring that dies down and then in the fall they have very pretty stalks of lily type flowers.
Just send me a dmail and I will put you on my list. I have 12 cuttings to share for postage..... Send me your address, and I will mail a cutting out to you on Monday...
First come, first served...okie dokie...
Ohhhhhhhhhhhh I love to be able to share with y'all.
