Come on gals & guys, lets get together in Jonesboro, Ga Sat. Sept 15 for a plant swap. So far have heard from Tig & TraciS. It's time more of us put a face with a name!!!
Plant Swap In Georgia
LOL Although I only live about 45 mins from tiG I haven't had the pleasure of meeting her, but on the other hand...TraciS....use to be my next door neighbor for about 5 years! SO I know what she looks like LOL I will talk to my sister Susan28x about coming, because she also lives close to you, in Locust Grove. Maybe we can all come. I will let you know soon.
Mollybee
Oh great Molly - I do hope a bunch will come, life is short and we should all take a day off to enjoy it.
Thanks for your response. I will send you specific directions next week.
I live in Montgomery, so it's not too far, but unfortunately, my husband starts on his masters (weekends)and the only way I can come is if I bring my kiddos...not something I'm sure I want to do since it's at least a 2 hour drive.
I'd gladly send some goodies for you all to share, though.
oh smiln, I sure wish you could come. Please don't rule it out yet!!!
I won't rule it out...but you all may have to contend with my 20 month old and my 9 year old. :)
The oldest one isn't a problem at all, but the little one is a handful...precious, but precocious.
How many plants and such would each of us trade?
I think we could trade as many as we care to share. If you bring more than one - then you get to draw more than once. If you don't like wahat you drew, you can always swap - this makes it even more fun, no set rules!!
That sounds really neat. Ok, I'll see about making the journey. Where exactly am I going? :)
You'll be eactly going to Jonesboro, Ga, just South of Atlanta - will get a map or specific directions out to those interested in the next few days. I'm getting excited now, I think we might really pull this off!!!
It gets even better. Hubby doesn't have school on the 15th, so maybe I can leave the baby with him!
Soooooo, what kind of plants do you ladies fancy? I think this has the potential to be a lot of fun.
I wonder what BIG DAVE & TRISH are doing Sept 15th??? Maybe we need a couple of celebreties to kick up more interest - what do you think?
I might be able to come. What time should we be there?
Linda
this just keeps getting better!!! come on, who else is close enough to come?? this could be such great fun!
Linda, I'd say plan to be here by 1:00, and we will start the swap at 2:00-2:30. Looking forward to meeting you.
I'm glad it's in the afternoon. My sister has to work in the morning. I'm bringing tibouchina, lucifer canna, wine & roses canna, caropteris, foxgloves, hardy begonia, canna pretoria, stokesia purple parasols, dwarf blue balloon flower, and double pink hollyhock. I know we're going to have lots of fun. Linda
Wow, looks like your bringing your whole garden!!! Didn't take long for you to decide. I'll have to make up lots of swap numbers. Where is Cave spring?
I won't tell what I'm bringing, but I'm really excited about this. Like a secret trade!! :)
I want to come so bad. Thinking about calling in sick. They wouldn't miss me any way. tiG carry something and swap for those double pink holly hock that Linda has for me. I'll make it up to you. Jim
okay, listen up everyone who is coming. If you draw for the pink hollyhocks, please let me trade with you, or Jim will not let me live it down!!!! AND he knows where I live!!!!
OK guys, just relax, I have Dbl. pink Hollyhock seeds, I promise everyone that comes will get some!!! I also have white!!!
I can bring 2 hollyhock plants. I planted the seeds in the spring and have been nursing the plants along til this fall when I can plant them. Cave Spring is about 60 miles north of Atlanta and about 5 miles from Alabama border. It's about 12 miles from Rome Ga and a really nice small town. I planted some double yellow, double white and black hollyhocks last week and they've sprouted:) but they're too small to bring. Linda
Azalea, Would it be ok to bring some chips and dip too?
Linda
she's out of town til tomorrow, but I know she'll get back to you!!!
Thanks TiG
Ok, our Sunday evening church group decided to have a work day at a ladies' house here in Montgomery the morning of the plant swap. We're going to be - if you can believe this - planting shrubs and such to help this lady out. Her husband left her and their kids, mostly because he couldn't deal with her illness. She can hardly walk sometimes, much less take care of her yard. She teaches 3rd grade, too, and is the nicest lady. Well, anyway, that comes first for me. If I can make it to the plant swap, I will. I need to see how long it would take me to get from Montgomery to Jonesboro. I can leave around 10:00am or shortly thereafter. Anybody have a guess?
I just looked it up on mapquest, and they say just shy of 3 hours. Gosh, that's a long trip, but I would so love to meet you. I certainly understand your priorities. But I sure do hope you can come too:)
Hi Linda, I'm back home. Sorry to hear you might not come but I too appreciate your priorities. I do think you could make it tho if you left soon after 10:00. It is a long drive alone, maybe you could find someone to come with you.Would love to meet you and as many as will come, the more the merrier.
Hi Azalea, Would it be ok to bring some chips and dip? Linda
Sorry, Merkat, of course it would be fine to bring some chips & dip - I'd really appreciate it. I thought I might even throw some hot dogs or Hburgs on the grill after we finish trading. I'll have ice tea of course. Nothing fancy.
Thanks for your offer.
PJ
Tig, where are you? I have tried to email you but it won't go through. Wanted to let you know that I expect at least 10 to the swap - not counting Hubbies or friends of course. So anxious to meet everyone.
it did go through:) I'll be there with bells on.
Well, gals & guys, you missed a beautiful day at my house yesterday. The turnout was small, only Merkat, Stormy & Sassy came but they brought two friends and lots of great plants to swap. Too bad you all couldn't come. We'll try it again one day.
oh, it just made my pain worse, knowing I was missing the party. (and all the good plants:)
I'm hoping we can do it here in the spring?? I'm a little closer to Alabama, don't know if that would help or not. But I'd love to have you all!!
ALABAMA....next stop, please. I'll even offer to have it at my house.
We can have home-made fresh baked bread, a variety of teas, and whatever else pleases you.
:)
