Every summer here in Casa Grande Arizona my chickens go on vacation during the summer months as far as egg production goes. I feed them a good grade of scratch and layer mash, but althopugh it is getting a little cooler , still not many eggs. I have about 70 hens of various ages, but only get about 2 and a half dozen eggs per day.
Does anyone have a miricale cure for this or should I just wait it out? Thanks in advance
low egg production
From what I understand chickens tend to drop off production during hot weather. Mine seem to be starting to gear up again--but now, with the days shortening, supplemental light might help.
I am in the same boat. I have raised their protein and added lights and still nothing. These girls had better get the message soon.

Cooler weather helps, but your older hens may not be laying often. Mine are just finishing up on their moult and I had a serious talk with them today that I expect MORE EGGS!
