OT...well, not really!

I saw this really really cool 'plant stand'...sold by COOKs. Actually it is a 'pot stand' but i think it would make a great plant stand....

Very interesting! I've seen ladder type shelves but never for pots and pans! That link you posted didn't work but I'm going to google Cooks and see if I can find that stand to read about it.

Very cool. It's funny how people misname things that are "meant" for plants and plant use. Like our house - a room on the first floor at the rear, filled with big windows, was foolishly called a family room...

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

Christine...I sure hope you set them straight about that!!!! Imagine?!

Sorry the link didn't work...the stand was 99.00 with free shipping.

Here is the link again...

OOOOPS, Sorry, the seller is CHEF or CHEFS -

(Zone 1)

hmm ... I'm getting a Windows Live Hot Mail page with those links. Is it a website? Or is it someone selling on a site like e-bay?

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

That is very cool, I also get the windows live hot mail page .
Thank you Carol

Carol, Thank you for posting the link for Chefs, I wasn't having any luck searching for it. I really like that pot stand: http://www.chefscatalog.com/product/24430-6-tier-corner-cookware-stand.aspx and almost had my order complete but went back to check dimensions and noticed the one review on that item. My plan was to put it out on my deck for plants but I'm afraid with all the moisture out there it wouldn't hold up for very long. I'm still considering it though, because I think it maybe could be coated with something to protect it from the elements. The description didn't really say anything about what it's made of, only something about graphite finish. I'm going to think about it. I think I could spray it with a sealant of some sort to keep it from rusting out quickly.

I requested a copy of their catalog and I printed a couple of recipe's from the site! They've got some nice things, so even if I decide against that pot stand, I will probably end up ordering something else. ^_^

Lin, it looks to be made with wrought iron. Very durable outdoors.

(Zone 1)

Barb, I was thinking it is wrought iron too, it sure looks like it in the photo, and I love wrought iron! But, the description really doesn't say what the construction is ... just graphite coated. I googled Graphite and found this definition: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graphite Geesh! More information than my ole' brain can comprehend.

I am still contemplating ordering one! I like the size. It won't hold too many plants but I think it would make a nice corner plant stand!

If all else fails, give their 800 (I'm assuming they have one) number a call and ask! Hmmmm.. lots of cool looking stuff on that Chef's website. Never shoulda looked. ;)

Thanks for the link Carol.

Around here if it isn't plastic (gag) it will rust or rot!!!! Looks really cook, tho'.

Hey...now that I have your attention (hahaha) can I show off the raised vegie bed Bob made for me? Growing spinach and a bunch of Asian vegetables in it (or hope to)... legs are cinder blocks, bed is a piece of corrugated roofing, sides are 2 x 6...it is lined with heavy plastic with holes poked in the downhill side for drainage. The bottom layer is cinder and perlite...top is sifted compost, soil, cinder and chicken poop. I am thrilled...and my back loves it!!!

And here is the bed full of soil ready to plant. I have to transplant some spinach and Bok Choy today....

Super neat ! That's the way to go these days, especially here, with the price
of groceries !!

Paula

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

OH, Paula...you are so right!!! My extra vegies I will use for trade for eggs and stuff I can't grow...plus the Food Bank wil get what we can't pawn off!!!

I use my granddaughters little beach bucket set to work in it....such fun!!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I spent the entire morning and early afternoon looking for veggie plants for the garden. I did hit a home rum and even found asparagus.

I have a couple of questions. While I was hunting for veggie plants I came across the hoya which, of course, I had to have...........I hope I don't already have it......but don't think I do.

Next I will show you the old foliage and the new foliage.

The old foliage shows more pronounced white dots.

The new foliage barely has white dots..........do you know what she is.........sorry I hijacked your fun thread ........but you good ones are all here together on the forum!

I received two hoya plants today from DG Markeplace. How can I ever make this a pretty plant again when she has been both sunburned and not watered? I thought about just saying, "Wonderful, I will just use her for propagating?"

I can't remember which one is Chelsea and which one is obavata in these last two pictures.

Gorgeous obovota - it's the last picture. I love that one, it's on my list.

Your cv Chelsea sure is looking a bit under the weather - but I'm sure
you can get her gussied up ^-^
All in all - nice big plants !

Paula

Minneapolis, MN(Zone 5a)

Hi Gessiegail,
Last photo is H. obovata and the photo in post # 5704949 is the Chelsea. Than's quite the find!
I would just give the Chelsea a little TLC for a while and see if the plant improves. It the plant does not improve, then cut it apart and propagate it.
Good luck,
Mike

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

OK........thanks and got it! Now...........what about the first picture.....the hoya I found today.........do you know what it is??????????

(Zone 1)

Carol: I love that raised planter! Bob did a great job ... great looking soil too. I would love for my DH to build a couple of raised beds for me to grow some veggies in but unfortunately we don't have a lot of sun.

Gail: Nice hoyas you got on the Marketplace! I think your chelsea will get to looking a lot better once she's in a shadier location. It looks like the original owner gave it waay too much sunlight.

Great obovata too! I love the looks of that one! I have a small pot of that from a cutting I got in trade.

I would say the one in your first photo is carnosa but don't take my word for it ... I am a hoya newbie like you. Time will tell for sure when you get blooms!

(Zone 1)

Gail: I found this photo while googling: http://sandy-hoyas.blogspot.com/2007/03/well-i-finally-got-around-to-taking-pic.html

Click on the photo of the Hoya to enlarge it and see if the foliage looks like your plant.

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

Gessiegal...I think (without my glasses on) your first photo is a really nice H. carnosa....

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Thanks, ladies.......................when I went outside I already had one (bummer)..........oh well, how can one have too many hoyas of any kind!

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

As they say: there is no such thing as 'too tan', 'too much money' nor 'too many hoyas'.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I love that expression!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
