Gordon, Samba Dancer is a small tree, almost as tall as the roof of my GH. She arrived in New Orleans this past spring about 1 ft. long! What looks like the sky in the background is a black shade cloth I house my imports under for protection from the sun. It gets so hot here that brugmansias foliage will burn in our heat. Even under a shade cloth the heat sill gets to them slightly. Samba Dancer has very little foliage at the moment. Most was ripped off or shredded from strong winds off both recent hurricanes.....She bounced back producing a little more growth & blooms. A very hardy brug for the South.

Samba Dancer's blooms have a shimmer-like appearance that I really love. They actually appear to glow from the moonlight. Can't wait to add this one to my moon-light garden.

Dollie, Samba Dancer is doing well in Florida also.

Dollie, Samba Dancer is gorgeous!!! I love the way the calx lobe goes way down on the corolla. Is the calx that long or is the bloom small? Do you have to wait the full two years before you can integrate her into your garden?

DeRidder, LA(Zone 9a)

Christa, Your Samba Dancer certainly is growing beautiful in FL. Everything you plant grows big, bold, tropical, & beautiful. You have the midas touch on brugmansia growing that I envy. How tall is your Samba Dancer? Judging by your photo I'd say small tree size.

Betty, I agree Samba Dancer is one gorgeous brugmansia. I'm sad to say but yes I'll have to wait two yrs. before this brugmansia can be incorporated into my garden.

On my way to work this afternoon, I went by my greenhouse to take a photo of S.D. for a visual with a tape measure. This way you can get a better perception of her bloom size .

Thanks Chrissy! I think she is perfect.

I agree with Chrissy. That "green sleeves" look is beautiful!

Chickenville, FL(Zone 9a)

That is definitely a cutie. Great name too!

Betty, I have to agree with Chrissy about Samba Dancer's "green sleeves" too. I hope my pollinating attempts took on Samba Dancer.....Looking forward to see what crosses this one will produce.

Angel, thank you! Samba Dancer is a very unique name that seems to fit this brug.....name goes well with her look.
