(Bactra sp.)
Janet, I had a look at the UK Moths section on these two species and it seems to me safe to call this moth Bactria lancealana. It appears that it is the commoner of thje two in UK and they say under Bactra lacteana:
It is best identified by reference to the genitalic structure, but specimens showing two short blackish sub-apical streaks should be checked.
If you agree I will change this entry into Bactria lancealana.

That's fine with me Ken. I got the initial ID from Back Garden Moths here, people who run moth websites as well as others. I guess no-one wanted to comit to any particular species. It has been a great help with those I can't find or are unsure of!
Thanks Janet, I have now changed it to Bactria lancealana: http://davesgarden.com/guides/bf/go/5347/

Thanks Ken, I changed my wording above it too!
that is good Janet, thanks
