My new Diamond Doves

(Zone 7b)

Here they are all 4 of them the dark blue are the normal colored and i believe the light one's are called lavendar.
They are exactly like the larger doves they coo the sweetest little hoo hoo and they nest and raise young just like my ring necks.
I have wanted a pair for a while and luck up yesterday with my trade (it's on the crazy crew thread).
You have to keep them inside for the winter but they can be outside during the warmer months and they barely take up any room at all just a large bird cage.
They eat canary seed mix or finch seed and require grit and a cuttle bone and of course a nest when they begin to lay.
Claire you need a pair of these for those long winter months.......We all still need our bird fix's even in the winter these will be mine.
Aren't they just Beautiful!

Here's the blue normal pair i think the first one is the male he sticks out his little chest and lets out this little hoo hoo it's so cute!

I think this is the lavender female i haven't been doing to much up close attention to them they are flighty being new to my home and every little movement scares them.
FYI These are nervous now and some say they stay that way while others say they become calm enough to sit on your shoulder.
I will have to find all that out for myself right now their okay until you get to close to thier cage but i'm sure they will calm down soon.

Normal color ? like i said haven't had a chance to really look.
I'm going to wait a few days then move the lavender pair into another cage i have and hope they will breed.
The thing that i like about these that i don't like about other parakeets etc. is they eat their seeds whole so no seed husk flying all over.

Beautiful!!! harmony. Will you name them? Christmas came early to someone's house :)

(Zone 7b)

Jan23 i feel strange typeing my birthday.......I have already named one smokey because of the tune he coos it's Hoo,Hoo,Hoo_Hoo,Hoo,Hoo,Hoo_Hoo,Hoo, it sounds just like the begining of the deep purple song Smoke on the Water so i named him smokey.

You would have to hear it to understand what i mean.

Thanks George and if you want to read how i traded for them it's on the crew titles thread.
I too have wanted these for a very long time but could never afford them and then yesterday i got the deal of life time and they are just what i thought they would be so sweet and the coo is for now so soft.
I know i will really enjoy these all winter and i hope you will be able to get some too so we can be the only ones here to share our little Diamond storys.

Here's the deal i made for these doves and both the man i got them from and me got a great deal because he raises the diamonds and in the end we both got something we wanted for free.
Brought this over from the titles forum.
My Biggest deal of the day was a man ask me to trade for some of my doves and when i ask what he had it was something i had been wanting Diamond Doves!
He really wanted some of my Ash colored doves and i said i would have to see the Diamonds first and with that he said i will be right back.
He drove to his house 50 miles away and brought back 2 pair of the cutest little blue doves but i didn't let on how excited i was (Can't show excitement during a deal).
He said you give me the 3 Ash and $20 and you can have both pairs...I countered with no i will give you the 3 ash and 2 peach for both pairs...He said no give me 3 ash and 2 peach and $10...I had him and he was thinkin I said no deal I'll take the dark blue pair and you can have the 3 ash and he began to sweat...He said are you sure you don't want both and i said "NA" don't really need the one...he said okay the 3 ash for the dark blue...He removed them and i put them in one of my cages and he said but i like all these doves and thats when i knew i had him good.
So final deal he got 3 ash and 2 peach which i have 0 dollars in cause i hatch them and i got 2 pair of Diamond doves that sell for $35 to $50 a pair.

Harmonyplace, Love your doves. Wish there was some place near here where I could get a pair. Never saw or heard of them before. And your cages are great, Where are they available. thanks for any in unfo.

Donna

(Zone 7b)

Donna i coveted these little beauty's for well over a year now and fell in love the first time i saw them.

My draw back was the price the ones i would actually see went for $40 to $50 a pair and i just couldn't afford them.
It was amazeing how this transpired saturday and 2 pairs WOW! i'm still amazed it happened the way it did says alot for haveing good tradeing stock.
I get my cages from yard sales and flea market's and friends always remember to disinfect your used cages you buy don't want your new birds gettin somethin from the cage.

Where do you get these birds well they have become real popular here i don't know about elsewhere you might try pet shops or bird auction's but as always be careful if you already have birds at home you don't want to bring home a sickness.
