Saving a rice paper plant

Wymore, NE(Zone 5a)

Hi, I have never grown this before. It took forever to get going, now that it has, the season is gone... Does anyone know if I can over winter the roots in the basement? We've had one light frost, didn't seem to hurt it any. Thanks for any help.

that's a nice plant. I don't know but it doesn't look like it can survive your temps. did you try searching info on google?

Thanks wormfood. Don't know what I'm going to do yet. My time to decide is very short... By the way, I love your name!

You're welcome and thanks, I picture people going "EUuuu" with a wrinkly nose when they read my name.

A. Put it in a pot and bring it inside (although they dont like to be moved)
B. Cover with straw and a blanket and see if it survives the winter outside.
C.When you find out that it did not, email Rylaff to send you another because she has them growing all over her yard. :)

So rylaff, they must reseed themselves in Florida? I think I'll have to keep you in mind this spring. I have decided to mulch it and see what happens. Too many other irons in the fire now.

They put out runners underground similar to what passionflowers do. They show up all over the yard.

Ah, don't think I want them to be that hardy here. They sure do have neat leaves. I have a passionflower, and it does wander every where.
