Mornin', Folks!
I just recently discovered there is an Indexing Service function on my OS (Win2K). It says it is disabled. I read about it in the Help section and it looks like it could be an interesting feature to have enabled as it states, "When indexing service is enabled, the files on your computer are indexed and maintained so your computer can perform faster services."
I also noticed it goes on to say, "Indexing Service is designed to run continuously and requires little maintenance. After it is set up, all operations are automatic, including index creation, index updating, and crash recovery if there is a power failure".
I was wondering if anyone has this feature enabled and whether it made your computer run slower since it is running continuously. (My computer usually runs fairly quickly but then again it also seems to be "thinking" quite often before certain programs load up or appear on the screen. I try to keep from having too many operations going at one time because of that.)
Dare I give it a try?
Thanks!
