Mount Vernon, IL

This guy met with my picture window and was stunned for a while, which let me get some close photos. He is 10 inches long. He has a curved beak, the lower yellow, upper black. The tail is long and slim like a mocking bird's. After posing nicely he disappeared under some nearby shrubs. Thanks!

It's a Yellow-billed Cuckoo. That's great that it was able to fly away.

Thanks! I never expected such a quick response! We have heard the cuckoo (nicknamed raincrow) all summer, but never saw it. It's great to finally see what it looks like.
