Has anyone tried one of these Solar Sippers?

Central, KY(Zone 6b)

Now that winter is just around the corner, I was looking at these on Duncraft's website
http://www.duncraft.com/Solar-Sipper-P2328C0.aspx
Has anyone ever used one of these or anything similar? I don't have any way to add a heater to my bird baths and really would like to be able to keep the water unfrozen during the day. In the past, I have to change it every a.m. and when I get home from work, it's frozen solid again...
Thanks!

We decided to get a heated dog dish instead and it works pretty good. If the water level is kept up, most little birds can reach it. It only heats when the temps are freezing and the water isn't warm.

It also means available water for squirrels, rabbits and cats :o)

Thanks! It was pretty cold that day. I zoomed and took it from the window.

Awww, poor little guy looks cold!

Thanks Billy, I've seen those but don't have anywhere to plug one in. I have 5 dogs so everything garden or bird related is outside the fenced yard and if I ran an extension cord, it would just end up being a really long dog toy ;-)

I hear ya! That's too bad. We ran ours into the garage. I would think the solar sippers would work. Maybe someone who tried one will answer.

I think I'll try one of those heated dog bowls. I suppose Pet Smart has them?

I am curious about the solar ones too. I would rather not have cords running around for me to trip over!! LOL

I think their supposed to be buried in the ground.

We got ours at Blaines Farm and Fleet, but a pet store would have them. We got a large one and the prices here are anywhere from $12.00 to $20.00 We paid close to $15.00 and it's a few years old.
