I have joined the Tiny Gardens party!

I have been absolutely enchanted by everybody's effort in this forum and simply had to take a stab at it. With lots of help from seedpicker_TX, I got some pretties to get me started. Curiously, my DDDH who couldn't care any less about tiny gardens, helped me put it together. I knew what I wanted, I just didn't know what should go where. I luv that man!

he made me a shepherd's hook from some extra copper wire he had in his shop and I hung the tiny basket, a gift from seeds. I have a little bitty succulent in it which I planted a month ago. It is doing great

I really don't have a permanent place for my tiny garden. Once my kitty "discovers" this dish, he's gonna go to town with it. I think these tiny gardens need to be on tables as some of you have them set up. A dish is too exposed to weather, pets, etc. Indoors would be too dry and maybe not enough light, I dunno....

Plants I used: Tree: boxwood seedling; shurb: dwarf ophiopogon; pots: various babies from stuff I already had elsewhere. We added a chunk of wood that resembled a rock and added another that looked like a tree stump. Used some sawdust to resemble mulch. Gravel is from Michaels, following seeds suggestion. I applied spray adhesive so that the little pebbles wouldn't fly all over the places. They are sticky and staying together.

That shepherd hook is so cute and the tiny hanging basket too!! You're right about them being put up somewhere.............I had a really cute setup last year on the deck, tuffa pot, little house, etc. and my grandson got a hold of it. Right now DH is in the process of staining the deck so will have to wait a while.

It is adorable. Don't you just want to shrink yourself for a moment and go sit on that bench?, lol...

Great job, and I loved that Mark helped you.

I especially like those teensy pots with the sedums. Did you find that it all went together in a snap, and then you were disappointed it was already finished?, lol...

Did it make you want to make more of them?

You'll have to make another one with your "handyman" and see if he can't rig a tiny waterfall for you. (then I can try to copy how he did it, lol)

Great job!

I find the simplicity of it absolutely adorable. Very sweet!

thanks everyone. My ext. office had an informal garden tour and I volunteered my house. The big hit of the whole thing was this teenie tiny garden. everybody would look at it and start thinking of what all they could do/use to express themselves. One lady is a horse fanatic and she was talking about doing one with an equine theme.

Mine is still alive and kitty has not discovered it yet. And yes, I would like to do another one but I would use a table kinda setup, where it would be better protected. without thinking too hard, I would probably do an asian theme or an arid desert theme or texana theme. well, that's just talking for now.

T, you're right, the planning of it and getting your items is the most fun. Putting it together takes little time and once one, that's it. Another thought that comes to mind is making little gardens and selling them. I think a teenie garden would make an excellent bazaar/fundraiser item.

I did that once, made them to sell, called them Living Altars.

I used to live in a place where, when it rained, the cracks in the streets would sprout with enough variety of weed and moss and what-all that they truly did look like tiny gardens, some of them actually teensy gardens. I could crouch down there and observe them for long enough to become a traffic hazard......

yes I really do need a keeper sometimes, I think. LOL!

Lovely example of Tiny Garden in these photos, thanks for the memories and the fresh inspiration.
