Helichrysum, Silver Spike 'Icicle'

Grand Haven, MI(Zone 5a)

Anyone do anything with this after cold weather hits? Bring inside? or just toss?

Helichrysum, Silver Spike 'Icicle' is an annual in our zone 5 here. It is perennial in zone 7B. You would have to try to imitate the same conditions it would face in a zone 7 situation. You have nothing to lose by trying. I'd scoop it out of the dirt and put it into a pot, trim it back and put it in the coolest part of your home in the sunniest window. Cut back on watering and hope for the best. It just might make it through the winter and you won't have to buy it over again next year. I am planning on trying to do that with my sweet potato vines. I'm going to dig them up, repot them, cut them back and put them in front of a basement window and only water sparingly through winter. I've nothing to lose.

Good luck!

my sweet potato vines are already potted and one has made it from the GH to the house
I also have begonias and coleus that Jazzy gave me, i potted them and am slowly bringing them inside
just what i need more house plants

good luck to all of us!!!

The Silver Spike is still in an outside pot and hasn't frozen yet, so I think I'll repot and try setting it in the basement (south, but tiny) window with the geraniums. Thanks!
