I have decided to Depopulate my flock as much as possible and remove any birds that have not contracted pox i have had some isolated away from the pox that will be leaveing this weekend.
This pox has given me no choice and i have become tired of watching these birds suffer.
I have a good friend who raises and races pigeons and i will be speaking to him about vaccine for my remaining birds that are still well and my chicks. He was a show breeder before he got pigeons.
"I know" why didn't i already talk to him well as we all know we think we are super human and can cure everything.
There's also shame and embarasment over how foolish you will look to someone you consider a superior and basicaly don't want to look like an idiot.
I will also be asking if i need to not have pigeons as they contract this too or just vaccinate future birds but that is wraped up in finance's which my birds have always supported thierselves.
I will be selling Doves and pigeon's this weekend to pay for the vaccine and any other expense for anything else i will need.
I made this hard Decision based on the roo i treated for mouth pox yesterday he's a blue splash and he has the pox on the inside of his entire mouth. He was in so much pain when i swabed him he almost passed out.
I'm done and i want this to be over.
Doe's anyone know about pox vaccine?
Oh Harmony - I am devastated! This has got to be the hardest thing you will have ever done. What a difficult decision to have to make. How you can do this, I will never know. I hope I never have to take that step and I hope I am brave enough to do it if the day ever comes. What about the little blue ones? Oh, please don't put them down....send them to Iowa!
{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}
bless your heart. i truly feel for you and your birds.
Harmony, I am truly soory. I know this was a hard decision for you to make.
No Claire the little one's are the reason for wanting the vaccine information i want to vaccinate them and any others i will be keeping to stop this pox in it's tracks.
The ones that were isolated and are well and have not been exposed are going to be sold they will not be put down. I have a good many breeders in complete isolation and I especially want to vaccinate these.
All the rest will stay and i will vaccinate and deal with getting the sick ones well.
How do i handle this with Gods hand on my right shoulder My DH and the support of my many DG friends.
I will survive and hopefully all my birds will too but i have no choice but to take these measures because this situation isn't getting any better.
I been searchin the web but i can't seem to find a picture or video of vaccinating can anybody help me out??

I was lookin for something that would show like a picture of how to do it (i'm totaly clueless)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DFM1Yu0L2uQ&feature=related
I googled the same thing and then did images (switched to images on top the google page)
This tells how to do different vaccinations:

This is illustrated with instructions on how to vaccinate against Marek's.
http://poultryone.com/articles/mareks.html
harmony, I just found this from Mississippi state records:
The chicks may be vaccinated as young as one day of age by using the wing-web method and using a one needle applicator. All replacement chickens are vaccinated against fowl pox when the birds are six to ten weeks of age. One application of fowl pox vaccine results in permanent immunity.
THIS infor from Fowl Facts mentions that it is different ages than you would vaccinate from Mareck's.
Prevention:
Vaccine available
Vaccinate soon after hatching up to 2 weeks of age. All should then be revaccinated at 12-14 weeks of age
A vaccine is available which is applied with a two prong needle into the flap of skin on the wing. UNLIKE Mareks Disease where the vaccine must be given at day old, Fowl Pox vaccine can be given to birds of all age

Maybe I should vaccinate too!
You'd THINK so, Huh? That is what I thought when I first found out my birds have it, but you SHOULD NOT vaccinate unless you have the virus in your flock, already, OR if you are in an area where the avipoxvirus has been reported often.
Otherwise, it's best you just take the PREVENTATIVE measures of keeping mosquitoes COMPLETELY away from your flock. Spraying down the cage nightly, and ESPECIALLY dropping the same type of drops in their water, as we do for bird baths. This kills any eggs that may have already been layed, but it is safe for the birds to drink.
Harmony-where are you getting the vaccination? Just a few pointers when you DO vaccinate.
Control and prevention in chickens is accomplished by vaccination by the wing web method with a commercially available fowl pox or pigeon pox vaccine. Vaccinated birds should be examined for takes about seven to ten days following inoculation. A take consists of swelling of the skin or a scab at the site where the vaccine was applied.
A high percentage of chickens showing reaction (takes) indicates a satisfactory vaccination. The absence of a take could be the result of vaccine being administered improperly, use of a vaccine with inadequate potency (improperly stored or used after expiration date), or vaccine being applied to an immune bird.
Precautions should be taken when administering the pox vaccine as it is a live type of virus vaccine. Because the pox vaccine produces a mild form of the disease, only healthy birds should be vaccinated. It is strongly recommended that all chickens in a house be vaccinated on the same day. The vaccine must be applied only to the vaccination site, and precautions taken to prevent contamination of other parts of the chicken, the premises and the equipment. Mosquito control should also be part of the preventive program.
