Received this plant three or four years ago from Hawaii Sandy. It has not been much of a bloomer, and when it has was less then spectacular. This year, it is making up for it. It still doesn't look like JL's photos, but even if it just stayed like this I would be happy. I think my cooler conditions here on the California coast makes a difference in how it is maturing.
The fragrance is strawberries, raspberries and suntan lotion. I am spending WAY too much time sniffing this plumeria.
Here is another one of the same plant a bit earlier in the year.
mmm. I would love to have a plumeria that smells like suntal oil (coconut?). Wish we had smell-o-vision.
Jean, i hate to differ ut you cannot spend too much time sniffing any plumie lol!!
And secondly, anything JL is a treasure, the man is a genious in hybridyzation and has so many wonderful offerings.
I own a few and will always keep them (as in not sell off)
I need to keep mine small (under 5 foot) so I cut and sell regularly.
Check out his lava flow hybrid, its almost neon and irridescent in full sun.

we have this plant growing all over the Island,a few months ago I took a 6ft cutting of one ,stuck it in a pot and refrained from watering and here it is...........
