Pitcher plant

Pella, IA

I have a large pitcher plant in a small 4" pot. It has 7 pitchers 5-6" long. It sucks up water like crazy. I think there may be two plants there. How do I divide them?

If that is the case just remove it from the pot and use your fingers to loosen up the dirt. You should find out quickly if it is one or two plants. Then slowly pull them apart. I would wait until spring to do that. Otherwise you have two plants you have to find a place for this winter in the house...

Is it a Sarr. or Nep.? Sounds like a sarracena. Wait until around mid February to repot then you can see after removing the soil and rinsing the roots off. It needs to be dormant during winter if it's a Sarr.
