FYI- name change

Selma, NC(Zone 7b)

I brought a few seedlings to the Raleigh RU this year of a plant that I had labeled as Blue porterweed- Stachytarpheta jamaicencis. I stumbled on the following link Friday night while I was checking out what I was missing at JC Raulston Arboretum's annual giveaway.

Thanks for the update, Shari! I have one of those seedlings..it's doing very well, too:-)

I think I have one too, so thanks. I made myself stay away from the plant give-away this year, as I'm determined to not overwinter anything in pots this year (wish me luck...I'm not sure it will actually happen!). Sorry I missed you!

This plant is probably the easiest to grow from cuttings of any I've ever tried.

It's a real workhorse in the garden. I'm surprised it's not more available commercially.

I didn't actually go to the giveaway but someone posted a link on GW about it and I was curious. I'd love to join but with gas prices I'll have to wait on it.

Hmmm. Are you sure that taxonomists haven't been hard at work changing names again? Your plant sure looks like blue porterweed to me~
