Hi everybody. This is my first year with Brugs and in general with gardening too. Mike told me to come here that it is a GREAT place to hang out and make friends.
So I am looking forward to do just that.
Only I got to figure out how this forum works lol. I just opened # 25 and have no idea what that is. A trading thread?
Well I just have to read myself through the threats and that is another way to get to know you all a bit better.
Looking forward to that.
Sorry if that is not the place to introduce myself. Just needed to do it.
Í am going by Lucy :-)
What's blooming at my house :
Milk & Honey
New to Dave's Garden
Oh oh I just remembered that I saw a LUCY here already. So I go by my real name. Luzia :-)
sorry....I am forgetful most of the time lol
Luzia
Hi Luzia
First I want to welcome you to DG and if you need help getting around you can dmail me for anything.
Please feel free to post on the “She’s about to # 25 thread” I am there all the time and the people there are a lot of fun. So please post a hello there you will be glad you did.
Thank you Donna. I just did and it only took me like 2 hours to read that thread lol
Yes it gets long and if you get board anytime you can read 1 through 24. It will take you hours. They are a great bunch of people. We did move a head to # 26. Just didn't want you to get lost.
Versicolor Peach x Ecuador Pink... you have a fine pure versicolor in your possession. Now, if you can just find another pure versicolor to breed this one to or another pure aurea if your going for doubles.
Eric you just put a sad smile on my face ....cause I just wrote in your post that I can not even get the seeds to sprout. But I WILL DO IT! Thank you for giving me a hint on what I CAN breed it with. Right now I am really just enjoying the beauty of them. There are so many talented great hyperdizers out there. I can wait to try to come up with the purple one lol
Donna hahahahahaha what do you mean hours....DAYS...knowing me....WEEKS rofl. I USED to be faster. Now I just take my sweet time with everything. Why rush through life. It goes by fast enough.
Thank you for making me feel welcome here.
All of DG no matter which forum you go to you will fine the nicest most generous and friendly people. There some extremely knowledgeable Burg people here on this forum. If you post questions the expert will be enormously helpful. I am fairly new to burgs, this is my first season with them and I have just put them in the basement for the winter. I believe I am addicted I now own 14.
Take your time here on DG, there is know need to rush. If you need help with anything just ask.
Donna yes I am going slowly through everything. There is so much to learn and know. One thing leads to the next. In the spring all i wanted was ONE Angel or maybe TWO to make me happy lol. But it is the nicest addicted I know! Hope yours will make it just fine through the winter month.
Luzia a big welcome to the lovely brugmansia forum and all the friendly happy and helpful forums here at daves garden ...just jump on in and ask if you need help or just to chat.
I wonder why you can't get your seeds to sprout ...I sprout mine in a sandy mix in warm temps and it always seems to work ...from what I see on the forums here everyone rushes to sprout the seeds in cool weather to get a head start on the warmer but shorter months understandable of course...in my opinion unless you want to stress and be disapointment...do it in warm temps and wait another year if need be ...it's better than losing your dreams (you know the kind we all have when we plant a seed) ...so get ready next spring to buy something wonderful to cross your angel with ...get out the little artists brush and off you go ...don't do it if you become obsessed easily ...because that is what Angels do to you.

Hi Lucy!!!
So glad to see you here!
Karen
Chrissy obsessed...me? roflmao not ME lol. This year I made it over 40 different named brugs. First year. Unless I get my own seedpod, I am not going to drive myself crazy. I will just totally enjoy next growing season!
Hiiiiii Karen :-) So glad to be here!
hi Luzia. I am new to brug growing also. My daughter just got the Milk and Honey in a round up over last weekend. I will show her your pic.
My first brug is four ft tall and hasn't "Y"d yet. It is Angel Cherub Pink. I got cuttings at the round up of a double peach and orange. AuntB from the #26 forum is sending me more pinks, peaches and a white. It's like eating potao chips, you can't eat just one. My brug hasn't even flowered yet and I want more.
I have learned so much from the forums. i hope to have blossoms next year. They are worth waiting for.
Texasgrower I can post another picture of M& H in FULL bloom if you want me to. I like that one a lot too. I do understand about the getting more. How can you just have ONE? Unthinkable! lol
I would say with the cooler weather for us now, you might get to see flowers still this year. If not there is next season and so much more to look forward to. I have so many that I am eager to see how they look and smell. But just to see them grow makes me happy already.
It is so wonderful to hang out at a place where everyone loves the same thing you do.
I agree. It's nice to hangout with people who don't think you've gone obsessive. Sure post the pic. I will show Alicia tomorrow. She will be thrilled.
Without the "Y" Miss Gargantuan isn't going to bloom. But I have a dream, a dream of big pink trumpets hanging from an 8ft tall brug in my front yard.
I got cuttings from a couple who grow theirs under oak trees. They are 8-10 ft tall or better. So I know I can grow them under my oaks.
Where in Texas are you?
Remember to ask your friends when you swap to try to send cuttings from above the Y so you get the flowers very quickly as they have already Y'd ...later they will send up a shoot/shoots from below the ground that will launch itself skyward if you want to strike that for an umberella shape meanwhile the plant will bloom in three/4 months or even less.
One more quick suggestion if you can find it.... Moon Goddess is another pure versicolor. She is the reciprocal cross of what you have so both are F1 crosses. It should be interesting to see what the two could produce if crossed to each other. I don't know if Moon Goddess is still out there, but it would be a boon to you if you wanted to breed pure species versicolors.
Luzia, just wanted to say 'hi'. I am about 1 1/2 hours south of you, but we used to live just outside of Copperas Cove in Cedar Creek from '83 to '86. I have brugs too, but am not having much luck getting them to bloom. I have them in large pots and have a terrible time trying to keep them watered and fertilized especially in summer. I was considering putting them in the ground, but it just didn't happen this year. I hope to meet you at a RU sometime.
Welcome fellow Texan. You will enjoy this web site as there many, many interesting forums. Be sure to pay a visit to the "Texas Gardening" forum.
Heeeey!
Nice to see you here! Did ya'll get the cold snap.. It was 36*F this morning but looking good the rest of the week...Great pic!
Kylie
Hey, it's good to see you here. It dropped to 38 here last night and my hubby almost cried when he thought I would actually go cut down the brugs! so I decided to leave them. I have a bunch rooting in the house anyway. I am nor sure where I will put any more............ I know I know, In other people's yards......LOL Glad you are here, Linda
