I have been growing this plant for two years. I say plant because it is yet to actually flower.
Last year I finally had buds when the first frost came and once I brought it inside all the buds dropped off.
This year it has grown to about 8 feet tall and has been loaded with buds for two months or more and none have opened. When I feel them the flower is still only half way down the bud. One has finally got tendrils showing and been that way for a week.
I keep telling it that it will be a long cold winter out in the back yard if it doesn't get it's act together fast.
Is anyone growing Flower Dream???
Oh, I'd LOVE to see the blooms, I've had/have stubborn bloomers/slow growers, give it another chance.... :) Charles Grimaldi is giving me blooms finally (on it's 3rd year with me) and I don't think he is a finicky one by brug standards for other growers, at all. I try to give them all equal food/water and attention... but threatening them I think is a good way to get them to get their act together.. going to the pf, now... hope we get to see a bloom pic posted on this one!
Finally some flowers on the plant. I dropped a lot of buds when it came in from outside, but held on to some so i could finally see a bloom. I have seen pictures of it with both separated skirts like this one and when they are together and fluffy, more rose like. I am not a huge fan of separated skirts, but this one is very pretty and the blooms are very large. Looks like a keeper.
Oh, sounds gorgeous! I love the separated skirts, more so than the non-separated.
@@!! Wow! how frilly and fragile looking! Also elegant and charming. One of those late in your season bloomers... still a keeper! Lovely!
Brenda, Do you the the parentage of Flower Dream?
Sorry for not getting back to you. I do not know, AKA is very protective of her crosses.
Thanks Brenda, I didn't realize it was one of her crosses. It does have a lovely shape.
