Found this fellow tucked under the edge of a pot. Any one have a guess?
ID anyone?
I vote for Variegated Fritillary. Any violets or passionvine around?
I concur. Also check for flax. You must have some type of larval host close by for this one to be wandering/hiding out. Do hope you're able to put it back on the appropriate plant.

Thanks guys for the input. After I posted I did a little looking around and came up with the following site.

Then I found what I think is what my cat is. A Great Spangled Fritillary

Cat: I couldn't put him back exactly where I found him. He was tucked under the edge of a dead tomato plant in a pot. I do have several flowers planted right close so I left him there. Plenty for him to eat. I've been seeing these flying around ever since I planted a butterfly bush last year. I do also have a lot of wild violets. I'm sure I'll be seeing him around if the birds don't get him first.
