Hi Y'all. Some of you may remember my exuberant announcement last winter when I got an old GH as a Christmas gift. Although I've not been able to do the repairs I'd have liked, my exuberance hasn't waned in the least. My hope is to use it this fall just as a "season extender" for my tenders before bringing them in for the winter.
Right now I'm looking for a remote thermometer so I can monitor the GH temp from my house and I'm having difficulty finding what I need. First I have the distance issue. The GH sits about 300 ft. from my residence which I know is pushing it. I've found a few that claim a reach of 330' so I'll barely make it, but I should. However my garage sits smack-dab in the middle of the path and I have a feeling that's going to cause a real problem. Does anyone else face a similar situation and if so have you found a solution?
Oh and the last requirement is simplicity. I went to Wallacemart the other day and the only remote thermometer they had with the distance needed was some kind of weather station. Oh my. I purchased it anyway because I REALLY wanted the thermometer, but I returned it the next day. I couldn't get beyond step one setting the darn thing up.
I would be most greatful for any input anyone can throw my way.

Remote Thermometers
Gardeners Supply has a whole bunch--many of them are more along the lines of the weather stations though. The one I have automatically recognizes the sensors and as long as you don't care about setting the time or the other stuff all you need to be able to do is stick batteries in (first put the batteries in the sensors, then put the batteries in the base station and when it turns on it'll recognize the sensors automatically). They don't have the exact one that I have anymore, but this one looks like the most similar http://www.gardeners.com/Wireless-Weather-Station/20733,37-221,default,cp.html I'm not sure about the distance and the garage in the middle, mine only has to go about 30 ft and only has to "see" through the front wall of the house and the plastic walls of the greenhouse. I think it's worth trying though, if it doesn't work you can always return it.
Thanks ecrane. I'm off to check it out now!
Thanks ecrane
I have a very similar situation with a metal building between my house and the greenhouse. As I was looking up LaCrosse, I came across this repeater that would surely remedy my situation. It’s expensive but it may be my only solution.

Let me know how that works out for you Oldude. I ordered one this morning that was just a little less expensive and the rep I spoke with offered no guarantees. If that one doesn't work I'll soon be looking for another.
