I have been waiting since a week before Labor Day for this to open.
my seed pod
It was on my h. Fungii. During the summer I had carnosa's, pubicalyx and a vitelinna (sp?) blooming near it. Whatever I get it will fun to try and grow out.
Congrats!!! wishing you a big success. My Mrs G seedlings are doing great!
Oh, that is so exciting! Keep us posted on how they do! I will keep my fingers crossed for germination and growth for your babies!
Did you put the blue tape on to stop it opening whist you were away?
Dominic
Yes. It caught my eye everytime i went by it.
Would you believe I have sprouts beginning? I can see them just coming up. I doubt seriously I'd get a good pic but I'll try tomorrow as the light is not so good in the evening.
Oooh, look at all those sprouts! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you ... keep us posted!
Looks like the seeds are sprouting good. Crossing my fingers & toes so they all grow up to be nice hoyas.
Jan
Thanks Jan I hope they do.
Good growing!
Karen
Oh, look at all those happy little hoya "ears" peeking up out of the soil ... Fantastic Growing! Please keep us updated!
What fun! Keep us posted!!!
Slow going but still going. Some have 3 leaves now. I did find a few that I guess rotted where the soil line is. What causes that? I have been keeping them on the dry side. I think I have watered them twice (maybe 3 times) since the beginning of November. if they make it, I'll have a couple of nice pots
They are VERY healthy looking!!! What fun!
pdoyle,
Damping off fungus causes seedlings to die. The fungus makes the base of the seedling look crimped and the seedlings tip over. Good air circulation and a sterile medium are good ways to prevent damping off disease from killing your seedlings.
Your seedlings look great. Do you have a greenhouse or are your seedlings growing under lights?
Does anyone know how long it takes for a plant grown from seed to bloom?
Treelovers3,
I have growing in a south facing window in our guest bedroom. I don't heat that room so it is kept on the cool side. When the weather warms up, I will move them to my GH to be potted up when they get bigger and then they'll go under the shade trees.
Seed to bloom? Depends on the hoya, but I would say min. 2 years but probably more like 4.
Thanks, pdoyle and AH!
Mike
Four years? I've been waiting more than four years for some of my PLANTS to bloom! :)
Hills,
You need to remember that Carol lives in paradise and you need to double or triple the time she stated for the rest of the world. (:o)
Mike
Congratulations, they are looking really wonderful! It's just so exciting to see the progress of someone getting a seedpod, collecting and sowing the seeds and then the result in great looking plants like that! I can't imagine what I'd do if I found a seed pod on a hoya, I'd probably faint!
Great job!
Looks great! mine are older then yours but looks smaller then yours. Mine is H australis Mrs G seedlings.
pd...great looking seedlings!!!! Good job!!!!
Thanks, I'm real excited. I hope to see them bloom one day.
