Hmmm, I didn't know you could change your residence so easily.
Welcome fellow Westerner!
Hi FuzzyChicken! You can change your location - no problem to do that in your profile section.
Welcome to the poultry forum!! We are all a bunch of crazy chicken lovers here. And Harmony is one of the best. And she has pigeons and doves too. She's a wealth of information, as are lots of the other folks on here. I have learned much from many of them.
I am still learning, but learning fast. What kind of chickens do you have?
Claire
i have too many kinds of chickens to count, we ordered 27 chicks from mcmurray hatchery and got one or two of each breed we liked. we also hatch alot of mixed breeds so idont realy know how to answer that question!
Welcome Fuzzychicken! Must warn you to watch out for the Chicken Fairy.
Welcome to the Hen House, Fuzzychicken! You will love it here. There are so many people here with so much info and a lot of craziness also.
I have about 150 chickens and raise them to breed and sell hatching eggs.
Sheila
Welcome. I don't have many chickens but I hope to have a few more. Right now I have 5 bantams, 2 bantam / game (blue spanish muff) Xs and 3 full stock game. The games are William MaCreary Roundheads. I am raising them for show chickens. Still working on the pen so I can bring them home. 1 roo and 2 hens. I also have 1 muscovey duck hen. Her name is Miss Quackers. I want to get some heavier layers.
welcome cajun.
Thanks. My "farm" is a work in progress as I don't have a lot of room. I do rent a barn and small lot for my 11 horses and that is where the chickens are. The game pen I am working on will be at my house so I can watch them closely. They are expensive birds and I don't want to lose them to predators. There are several coons at the barn and the neighbors have cats. I lost a white leghorn roo last week. He was free ranging. I have a dog kennel at my house I am converting to a nice chicken pen. I don't have room for it at the barn. It is 8 x 13. Should do well for 3 chickens.
Welcome fellow Washingtonian/Lover of the Chickens!
chicken fairy?!
Yes, she comes along when you're least expecting it and you'll have more chickens than you know what to do with!
like how? they just show up at my house one day?
You never see the Chicken Fairy. She has POWERS. She knows when you are weak and puts the chickens in front of you then. We have all been visited by the CF. Sometimes she even posts in a thread. Her home base is Mali, Africa--but she seems to spend an awful lot of time in the Midwest---especially Iowa. And she has representatives in all countries and states--these are otherwise known as "enablers".
You make a wish, you work real hard, you prepare, plan, and just when you least expect it.. but are ready.. poof.. the opportunity is right there in front of you.. brought to you courtesy of.. "THE CHICKEN FAIRY"
ahhh come-on cat..
we've seen here with Lucky..down under.. in Ohio.. in KY.. but yea lately she has been hangin in Iowa..
Dusty is saving her wishes for next spring.. me too.. an americauna roo for me.. with a golden incubator.. maybe the bator could be a winter project ;-)
I want a golden incubator too!
I want to try my hand at making my own incubator. I have a foam chest just waiting for the rest of the parts to come along. Hope the chicken fairy visits with them soon.
Like Catscan.. a HUGE enabler! LOL And a great one!
Welcome fuzzychicken.. I'm a newbie too.
The CF will probably come and give you a warm welcome too... She is awesome!
thats funny!!!;)
I prefer the title "Representative":0).
Hey Cajuninky--I just got back from buying the bits and pieces for my second homemade inucbator--my father had several Omaha Steak boxes he let me have. They are very easy to make and make great hatchers.

she travels alot. I am doing good here, sold 8 birds more to go today. And have not gotten any new for at least 2 weeks now. I am standing firm there no new ones until spring, except for the eggs I am having a guy locally to bator for me. Want them girls to be laying by early spring.
Sorry Commander Jordan, the chickens made me say it.
All is forgiven.
