Small one growing at the Huntington in San Marino, CA.
Variegated Queen Victoria 'Variegata' (Agave victoriae-reginae)
Ahh, catching up on logging PF images I see! This one is stunning, on my wish list now!
Sue, I have easily 20,000 pics to post. I have a 2 terabyte hard drive that is just about full. I am in big trouble! LOL
I actually bought myself one and went back in my photo files to see the one I saw at the Huntington and saw I had the 2 pics ready to post but hadn't. And it was the same one. I got a 3 gallon one for $30. Be still my variegated heart. I bought a 1 inch one on eBay a few months back for $36 I think it was. I had FOOL in neon PINK on my forehead. The picture was of the mother plant. The one I got is so small you hardly can tell which plant it is. A big DUH to me. It has been killing me ever since.
But now with dollar cost averaging I do not feel so bad. LOL
My new one.
l love that one. No, wait a minute...I NEED that one!
Nery, do you have a lot of succulents? I have been drawn to them this year.
You and I have such similar taste!
Kell, where did you get that 3 gal one? Hope it's not a secret nursery?! ;-) It really is a beauty!
No secrets from you, Sue. LOL
It is that one as you come off the freeway to go to Zuzu's house. It recently changed its name. Is it Digg? I was there the other day and they were having a sale. Sadly, most all was picked over. This one was on a top shelf so you couldn't see the top but saw some dead under leaves so it looked unappetizing. When I pulled it down I was so surprised. And thrilled. Even at full price it was a deal. Every time I walked by it today, I had to smile.
I went to a bunch of nurseries around there but they had nothing. This time of year is so sad for me. Not much to be in a thrill over. Though the same one that had the agave did have a bamboo I have been looking at for 2 years. It is still there. It has gotten so tall though, I would have to bend it over to get it into my car and it is already so big I would have to get an electric saw to divide it. But it sure speaks to me each time I go there.
I got this one too though I have no real clue about it. I already have a bigger one but this one had PINK in the leaves so of course I had to get it. I am now getting so many small succulant pots all over and I so hate that look.
Have you seen 5 gallon black nursery pots anywhere? I went to 5 stores today and none had them! I need to root big brug trunks ASAP.
What a magnificent plant!
Oh, nice, I can see why you got that one too! I am so drawn to succulents big time lately.
I haven't seen any of those nursery pots, I used to get them from another daylily club member, he was in the landscape business. How many you need?
I need 20 but may only get 10 depending how much they are. Brugs are such virus prone plants I always use new pots. I finally bought a bunch of clay pots the other day for my clivia/succulents and darn on the way home if I didn't slam on my brakes suddenly to avoid instant death and they went CRACK CRACK CRACK. Then I opened the back door and if they were not alread broken when they tumbled out and hit the road they sure were. Made me nuts. Ask me how hard it is to be me these days.
The one thing about succulents is you need to get ones that stay small. I have seen such messy gardens that have overgrown ones. And they can be so mean and hurtful to keep trimmed back.
I saw a very cool aloe today at OSH. All the HD and OSH I went to had new succulents in. I saw very fat and chunky variegated Euphobia ammaks. They had great arms coming off. I love them but I already have 4 of them so I walked away. My biggest one is over 8 feet tall and getting taller. Also better than decent Pachypodium geayi, better than the one I bought several years ago because of the PINK stripe down the middle of the leaves.
Here are some I saw.
Both nice lookin' but I just can't get into anything with spines! I enjoy seeing them, but not for my garden. Knowing me, I would bump it and get stuck.

good morning ladies. Sue my DLs are doing so great. Kell, Idab in succulents but not crazy about them like roses. I just love the fact they require such little attention. All mine are little ones, or in strawberry pots so I can have a bunch of little ones, so I agree about what you said about having little ones. The big yuccas, agaves, oh no, I'm sorry, no like.
sorry about your pots. If you by any chance paid w/ American Express, you can call them and tell them what happened. I believe there is a sort of insurance for disasters following a purchase. If I'm not mistaken, is one of those fringe benefits from paying their ridiculous annual fee. Do ck them out if that's how you paid.
Hi Nery!!
Gosh, I would bankrupt American Express. I need that card for sure! LOL
