Thank you, for reference this one was on garlic chives

Datura...they use sunflowers as a larval host plant. Bet if you look around you'll find many more :o) They are extremely abundant in south Texas and often variable in color and markings.

Even their chrysalids are different colors :o)

I haven't seen any for quite a while. There's quite a few butterflies that just aren't around these days here.

Thank you, I will keep the host plant in mind. There are alot of wild highway sunflowers out now in the area. Good pic of the chrysalids.

Peg so glad you had a Border Patch. I had one last year that emerged from a chrysalis high up under the roof of my shop. This year I haven't seen any. They are a sweet little butterfly.

I saw this butterfly last week in the city, but wasn't really sure it was a Bordered Patch...looks different. I know there's variations in any species, so maybe...it could be.

After looking at dozens of pics of the common checkered, the white checkered and the grizzled, I can't tell one from the other! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, Sheila. :)

Oh gee, I almost forgot my Zebra Longwing! Love this little guy. Wish my camera would take better pics in bright light. The light color is yellow, not white. :(

WHOOPS! Posted all my dailies on the wrong thread. My apologies, Datura12.

You are forgiven I am sure, all the pics were great. Especially the one with 3 GFs!! As for the Bordered Patch, Kennedy's first link shows numerous variations. Your skipper may be a Checkered or a Grizzled, but don't take my word for either. The other is a Clearwing Moth I think, again someone else needs to verify it.
