mm, that is my favorite plumeria too..The smell is delicious.

those are some dazzling hibiscus Rita! Is there alot of competition for the Ae?
I keep checking for pups on mine, but it's remaining solo for now, meanwhile the foot high Siam Ruby Red is throwing out little pups all over...
Is the Ruby Red a short banana plant? anyone know?

Pensacola, FL(Zone 8b)

Nope I dont know but I want to grow a banana as soon as I find one somewhere

Lawrenceville, GA(Zone 7b)

Me too for the banana! I bought one last year and the wind tore it to shreds and it dried up. Another plant that I blame that the drought killed ;) Nothing I can do about that except buy another LOL

wow well I will have one soon as I get some seeds or a pup which I probally will do next month when I have some extra money.

Hi,

I've been waiting 3 years for my plumies to bloom .. How's the double white Tiara I sent you last March? Still waiting on the double pink brug you were suppose to send me. Are you not getting my d-mails? I've been writing you all year with no reply. Surely you should have some cuttings by now. Hopefully you'll see this and let me know what's up!

Not yet as they are still in bloom as soon as they are done I will send you a cutting.

3 years..hmmm..I would recommend Nelsons plant food. Mine bloom all the time especially after feeding them the plumeria food. They bloom all sizes..foot tall and up.

Hi RJ,

Actually they have NEVER bloomed .. the oldest is over 3 years .. too late now to get anything going - they are gonna start losing their leaves in the next few weeks .. Come next year when they start to put on leaves I'll put them on my Brug feeding schedule, once a week double strength (and the brugs still knock on my door asking for more). Hopefully they will get the message. They do make nice foliage filler plants! Lol.

Well good luck with it!
If it helps, I tried the brug feeding schedule, and pretty much ended up with the nelsons plant food. The brug schedule was too much for them. Watch for warped leaves when you try it, that will be the indicator that they getting too much.
Here, during the summer they tend to do well being on the dry side. Seems like the water intake on alot things changes for the seasons...winter/fall more water, summer less..go figure..it's always a learning curve..

Thanks for the heads up on the plant food .. I've also been told to bury the pots .. they don't like hot roots.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Really? I've heard burying the pots so they're easy to pull up in the cold weather.. I have so many I don't know what to do with them...I have an entire table of languishing guys.. no real estate..and the really big ones..I'm having to figure something out ..sigh..always something

Summerville, SC(Zone 8a)

I know how you feel .. I have a number of languishing brugs that have been in pots for 2 years .. I avert my eyes when I walk past them.

As to cool roots, I can't remember where I read it, it was another thread about non blooming plumies .. the advice I got was to feed the beejeebers out of them and bury the pots to keep the roots cool.

ps. My beaumontia didn't have a bud .. it was just a really deformed leaf node ;-(

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

ooh..nooo..bummer...You must stand on ladders too, to see if things will bloom. Have to admit having false bloom sightings myself!

Randy, since the Nelson foods are dry. I am wondering how you use them in containers. I have been warned that the dry foods can burn young roots; when I tried their hibiscus food (successfully I might add) I used it sparingly and watered, watered and watered some more. How are you applying it?

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

The same way- sparingly and water. The bigger Hibiscus, I poke about 5 holes in the soil equal distance that would make a circle if you connected the holes..I distribute the prescribed amount amongst the 5 holes.

I do lazy application on the Hibiscus..I just sprinkle some on the top soil. I use less most of the time. After alot of trial and error in the early years, I definately learned that in the plant world...A little, is alot.
