I got skunked

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

I bought an Iochroma on eBay but when it finally bloomed, it was just a plain pale pink brug. I really would like to get this plant for my spousal unit. Does anyone have cuttings they would share? I have Solid Gold, Mountain Magic, Maya, Cypress Gardens and Charles Grimaldi.
This is my Solid Gold last year.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr... maddening ain't it? I know a few dg'ers with Iochroma, but none large enough to share... I'm waiting patiently with my fingers crossed.. Nice brug list, hope you find a trader.. Gorgeous flush on your Solid Gold!

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

thanks. I guess I'll just keep begging and looking

I can't get over the nerve of someone to knowingly send you something other than what you paid for... what a rotten trick! so sorry to hear that. I would absolutely die to have a flush of anything like that yellow though.... I had 6 open blooms of my little mountain magic this year... that is everything I had bloom and I thought I had died and gone to heaven.. it is the only one I had bloom since nothing grew this year.. tiny plant with 6 blooms... I was tickled pink!

Woodspirit1, did you contact the seller? You should be able to get some satisfaction.. the plant you paid for or at least your money back..
Tammie! So happy you got to see some blooms, I'm going to give the Maya cutting another week or two and send out to ya..

Or at least let us know which seller it is! We'll all want to avoid that one. Best of luck getting your $ back.

Ahhhhhh! I just got a cutting of Solid Gold this summer ... Thank you for the beautiful preview! ♥

Tammie, brugs take a lot of fertilizer. From reading the threads, I have seen people use Miracle-gro, fish emulsion, manure, Bayer's 2 in 1 (to help keep the bugs off - works good), Alfalfa, banana peels, etc. I think some of them use all of the above, lol. They like a lot of water so a lot of folks have to mulch them heavily.
Neither eBay nor Paypal keeps records that far back. I got the cutting in the spring.
I will just keep looking.

I have the Bayers but it says it is to be used only on plants in the ground.. not potted plants.. anyone have any suggestion? Do you use it on potted plants since most of our brugs seem to be in pots? I also have miracle grow.. keep that in my rain barrel .. I just dump some in when it is full so every time I water, the plants get some fertilizer. Works ... it just has been difficult keeping things watered this year.. not enough rain and the water has been so very alkaline.

woodspirit1, I believe I have an extra rooted Iochroma plant in the greenhouse. It would be either lavender or blue. Let me know if you want it.

Thats really sucks. I bought 3 diff ones from one certain ebay seller that turned out to be the wrong thing. The bad part is that they take so long to bloom from a cutting that it is too late by then. Now I only buy from people on ebay thatI know now or are members of a forum or society.

(Tammie) Odessa, TX(Zone 7b)

I guess I have just been lucky.. bought two snowbank on e-bay.. they were beautiful.. but I managed to lose them both to spider mites with just about everything else this summer.. bummer.. have to blame that on me.... it was a wonderful seller though... guess it is hit and miss on e-bay at times.

Oh Patricia, I'd love it. Can we just do postage? My address is in the exchange.
Here is another one I got skunked on. It is Flamenco, supposedly. However it came out a pale, non-descript pink.

I have a giant iochroma, I am not sure if you would call it blue or purple, I plan to cut it back today. I can send you some cuttings.

I hate that people do that on ebay. Too b ad we can't post the ID's of these sellers to protect the rest of us from buying from them.

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

I'd love them. Maybe I can get at a couple to live. Can we do this for postage, too. I'm in the addrress exchange.
The trouble with those 2 dirty deals was that by the time I saw a bloom, it was too late for eBay or paypal to have a record of the sale.

I know it isn't what you wanted but it is beautiful none the less.

Good Lord, woodspirit1!! That Flamenco is gorgeous! I almost bought one on eBay with that same photo in the auction! Glad I didn't! No one likes to be taken advantage of. That's ridiculous.

I was curious about a Brug seller online called eddiewayne. I posted a thread on here (http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/875503/) because I was suspicious of the size of the Brug - can't ever be too careful about eBay. Turns out, many others on here knew him, and he was a member here, and everything was perfectly fine so I bid. I'd reccommend trying that next time, worked for me.

Here is a greenhouse that seems to have a lot of the and I thought they were reasonable.

If you want to wait til next Spring's RU, I can bring you an Iochroma. Deep purple.

The color on that photo of Flamenco has been exaggerated. It is a deep pink but no orange in it!

Yes I can wait until spring if none of the others work out. I will let you know. I surely do appreciate the offers. My spousal unit is mostly home bound, but works in the yard and particularly wanted this plant because it is different from the other brugs.

If he wants something different, I also have GA. Peach. It is pink with orange ribs and tendrils. The blossoms are similiar in size and habit, except GA Peach has more recurve to the tendrils. See photo.

Let me know.

I think I will stick to just the Iochroma. I have very limited in some small terraces and 5 is about my max. I am waiting eagerly for the ones offered by jerrodsmom and the rag lady. I can trade for one of my brugs I listed above or just do postage. Please let me know as I am getting ready to cut mine soon.....Betty

Watertown, NY

I will ship on Tuesday. Didn't want plants tied up in the mail over the long weekend.

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

good thinking. Did you want a trade from any of mine I listed above?
