The Backyard Birds

Marlton, NJ

I have a number of pics so thought it would be better to put them in a seperate thread.

The Ruby-crowned Kinglet came back again the other day. I was able to get about 11 shots of him, this first one had the sun shining through unfortunately.

I'm not sure what he's looking at.

Pelle, I have trouble uploading when I don't downsize my photos first. Sometimes by letting the site downsize for me I can not upload more than about four before I get a screen that tells me that my address is not working. I have to go off my provider and come back on to be able to download more. If I make the pics no more than 600 pixels across first I have no trouble uploading as many as I want. But still if I am in a hurry or just plain lazy I still let the site do the downsizing.

Hi Frank,Thanks but I downsize all my pics for faster uploading.

What the screen is telling me here is that it IS uploaded when it isn't. :-(

Nice series Pell. I really like the kinglets, so many very good shots. The last time I tried to photograph one, I could hardly keep track of it moving through the brush.

I've never had the up loading problem, but I always down size my pictures first. I use a range of widths from 640 pixels, the default down sizing number on my program, up to 1000 if I'm trying to show maximum detail.

Great shots again, Pelle. The Blue Jay photos are really sharp and clear. And, you have been getting some real nice photos of the Ruby-crowned Kinglet.

Anytime you see a thread by Pelletory it is well worth looking at. Love the Kinglet pic. Last summer, I had a pair of Turkey Vultures hang around on my stone wall. Close up, they do indeed have a face only a Mom could love, but the rest of the bird is astounding. I always thought of them as monotone, but each and every deep brown feather is edged with a lighter shade, and the strong large flight feathers form beatifull patterns. Thanks for sharing Pelletory. :)

Thank you Daiseycat, that was such a nice compliment!

I do love the Turkey Vultures besides what you've already stated about their wings their great cleanup crews and for me so pleasurable to watch in flight.

Thanks again. ^_^

Love all your photos and that Kinglet is such a precious little one!

Love the pictures -- especially the kinglet. Almost reminds me of markings of a goldfinch. (Can you tell I'm looking forward to the return of the goldfinches around here?)
