Cotoneaster question

Toronto, ON(Zone 5b)

Hi guys,

Just started to train a cotoneaster shrub into a pre-bonsai shape (that's why the pot is big; the main stem is actually lying on a horizontal axis and the ones that you see on the picture are the actual branches).

Now my question is, are cotoneaster indoor or outdoor trees/bonsai? Do they need cold or should I just leave them inside my house?

I would think that any cotoneaster would be an outdoor bonsai. What type of cotoneaster do you have?

Cotoneaster dammeri, "coral beauty". I'll put her outside today =). I placed her inside the house because I stressed the branches out with all the nippings and tyings, it's getting chilly up here. Thanks HoosierGreen!

eve, I looked up your cottonester dameri, and here what the pf has to say about it. Indeed it's hardy up to zone 5a. However, if in pot culture, the pot could freeze over. It I were training mine. I'll sink the plant into the ground pot and all. Even in my zone, some container plant that are hardy in my climate. I feel safer to sink them into ground when possible.
