Yet another pet death

We have lost 6 pets in the last few weeks. First my husbands horse died. He was old, probably about 28 years old, but still hard to take. Then we lost a pet roo, then my daughters cat, then another pet roo, then another pet roo, and now my sons gerbil Chewy. Chewy was about 3 years old and that is about the average length of life for one of those. He had a tumor though on his neck. Usually small animals like him would die quickly from an illness but Chewy had this tumor for a long long time and survived for much longer than most would. My son was putting collodial silver in his water. He ate, chewed and ran around. The last couple of days he started looking like the tumor was getting the better of him. He died this morning.
Though we expected he would die soon, it is still not easy. He was a loved little pet.

Awww I'm so sorry that happened to you. I'm still grieving the loss of several chickens... and know all too well your pain.
You can however, be glad for the good life you provided him and know he was a happy lil camper!

Thats so sad with all the animals dieing so closely together do you suspect a virus or disease it"s unusal for so many to die that close together.

Well, they say deaths come in threes, so just considder you got a double whammy and you are done for a while. I know how hard it can be, we had a bad run this summer too and I began to feel like it was my fault. It wasn't. You have to remember that too. SOmetimes these things just happen. (although, I did start to feel like it was karmic retrobution for refusing to take yet annother batch or red squirrels to rehab).

Anyway, I feel for you and hope things will go better now. I think it's harder watching a child or husband suffer a pets death than it is to loose one of our own. I remember when my son's ferrit died and I'm not sure who I wept more for, the ferrit or my son.

You managed to give them long healthy lives and should feel good about that!

When I was a child, an old woman from Mexico told me that every animal we are kind to on earth will be waiting for us when we die and will help us cross the river to paradise. My goal is to not even get my feet wet.

I don't think any of the deaths were related. The horse was at my in-laws in Missouri.

ZZ, sorry to hear your grieving as well.
It's hard to loose so many so close together.

So very sorry yet again Smedge. My daughter also lost her pet gerbil this week. He too was around 3. She was heartbroken.
