Hey everyone,
Miles and I are going to visit my father in St. Croix, USVI very soon. I asked him about the local butterfly activity, and he said that he has never seen so many butterflies, in one area, in his life! As for identification, he has no idea what species they are. I am really interested in learning about the native Caribbean species that I can find there. Honestly, I would like to be able to identify them and their host plants, so I know where to find choice photo ops! ;)
Does anyone know anything about native Caribbean or Virgin Islands butterflies? Or, does anyone know of any good websites or books with information about butterflies in this region or the world? Any information would be greatly appreciated and even rewarded with our Virgin Islands butterfly pictures!!
Thanks and Happy Gardening!,
Miles&Ashley
Butterflies of the Caribbean?
That sounds like a great get away!!
Here is a link I used when working a tropical butterfly exhibit and having to id pictures I took. These are South America, but could be some of the same ones you will find in the Caribbean. http://ghanabutterflies.uw.hu/ The pictures on it were really helpful.
Hope your trip is all you plan for it to be.
Thanks, Sheila!^^
