Pelle,

That's what I thought it was too, from looking at the pics! So happy for you! We don't get them here. :-(

Great clear pics!

Marlton, NJ

Thanks Marilyn, I was just starting to put the gear away when he showed up in my apple tree so of course I didn't budge. :-)

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

must be some good bugs in there.

Fox Island, WA(Zone 8b)

I think that was one of my favorite birds from my winter birding trip last year. They are so tiny and so darn cute!!! I can't believe you got such good pictures. WOW. Yours must be female because I don't see the little red spot on it's head in any of the shots. Wonder where her man is? LOL

Linthicum Heights, MD(Zone 7a)

Pelle, those are great pics. As has been said, they are difficult to photograph because they seldom sit still for more than a second or two. It is even more difficult (need some luck) to photograph one displaying the ruby head marking. When you encounter a flock of them, be patient, and just keep shooting. One day, I took 50-60 photos within a 10 minute period and wound up with two that showed some red (ruby). The male's red patch is seldom visible.

Congratulations !!!

Rockport, TX(Zone 9a)

WOW! I can't believe that you got such GREAT shots of it. They are so fast and so tiny. Great job!

Marlton, NJ

Thank you. He didn't seem very afraid of me but your right their very fast.

Thank Goodness I looked at the tree before stepping away. I had to take the lens cap off and extend it. I knew it was a new bird and was really excited so kept telling myself to take it easy. I'm so glad he was somewhat cooperative. :-)

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

LOL. That's so funny about the take it easy because I've had to do the SAME thing!

Grand-Falls, NB(Zone 4a)

Great shot of a pretty little bird Pelle.Your reaction reminds me, of the first time the Bohemian Waxwings showed up, in my crabapple. What a rush. congratulations.

Tiller, OR(Zone 8a)

Good for you, Pelle!

Great shots, too!

PERTH, Australia

Pelle, what a beautiful little bird. Great shots.

Anchorage, AK(Zone 4a)

Congratulations Pell!
I haven't succeeded in catching one in a picture yet. They just move too fast. A few weeks ago, I spotted one siting on the side of the road, where I had just parked. Before I could get out, it flew underneath the truck.
