During this past summer, my daughter traveled on vacation to Austria, Slovenia, Croatia and Hungary. While in Rust, Austria, which is just outside of Vienna, she photographed the Storks sitting on the house chimneys. Here are several photos that I wanted to share with you.
The White Stork breeds in the warmer climates of Europe and migrates to the African tropics during the winter months. They are a large bird standing 40-50 inches tall with a wing-span of 0f 61-79 inches.
Nesting White Storks
Oh these are very cool! Thanks for sharing them with us Linth.
Generally considered good luck to have a pair nesting on your house; according to legend, they bring babies to families. The species is starting to increase in numbers again as a result of better habitat management, after a long period of decline due to agricultural intensification.
Linth, not sure where your figures are from, but they're slightly out; more accurately 95-115cm tall, wingspan 180-218cm.
Resin
That's hilarious. Instead of "a chicken in every pot," it's a stork nest on every house.
How neat!! I don't them bringing any babies to my house tho!! lol
Oh nanny, I'm with you on that. Great shots, Linthicum.
