After reading around Dave's Garden, I found that this seems to be the place to say hello.
I am new to DG and I'm loving everything! I have read so much interesting stuff and enjoyed looking at some spectacular images! I hope to meet some people on here, and look forward to learning much more about gardening and landscaping.
I'm from a small community in Kansas and enjoy the outdoors and working in my yard.... Unless it's one of those miserable HUMID Kansas days.. LOL Then you'll likely find me inside in the comfort of the AC.
I am also a potter and hope to someday have a personal website to offer my art. I have been sketching a few outdoor or garden type vessels, some to plant in, and some that would be more of a plant stand. I'm anxious to try some of these out. My ceramics studio is pretty limited at the time, but hope to expand to have a larger kiln and potters wheel. The wheel I have now limits me on production. That's an entire other story though.
Hope to hear from some of you.
Hello all from the HEARTLAND. I'm new to this site.
hello and welcomet o daves garden. you will find this site filled with wonderful, knowledgeable, sharing and fun people.
hope you get to check out all the forums.
Welcome to DG, Angie.
Not sure if you've found it yet but there is a forum for Artists here. You might be interested in that one to share your art. There is also a Marketplace to sell plants, as well as other stuff..like your pottery.
I would enjoy seeing some of your work.
Jackie
Thank you Jackie.
I did look at some of the stuff in the artisans category. One lady has some awesome drawing talent. I draw, but unfortunately it is a long process. I'm truly a realist and just can't seem to quit until I think it's PERFECT.... or what I feel is perfect. I'll look and see what I can find as far as my work.
This is one of the most recent things I did. Is a chalk drawing of an antique wood plane and hand saw. My husband has many of those laying around in the basement.
Angie,
Very nice work. A website would give you a large audience for your art.
My daughter is an artist (she sold some work in TX at a large gallery) and I keep telling her that she should get a website to showcase her work...tisk tisk..they never listen to Mama!
I do a little bit of drawing too..the thing is, I am having trouble figuring out just where to place the sticks on my stick man and even more trouble getting depth in my drawing...LOL
Jackie
Yes,welcome to DG. I have found it to be a fun, yet informative place. Do check out the forums. Even though I'm on the east coast, I roam around some of the other regions as well. There is an artist's thread on NE forum that just started. Beautiful work!!.
jan
i guess its easy to draw when you have a "run way" model looking at you in the mirror. LOL you are very talented.
Thank you....
I'm blushing...... lol
This is a great place.... Wish I had found it sooner. It has SO much great info. I'm also amazed at layout and complexity of the site itself. I've designed a few sites (mostly as assignments) and there is a LOT of planning and work involved. Way to go Dave.
Angie,
I have visions of Dave sitting in cold, dim room with computers surrounding him on tables, half cups of coffe/glasses of ice tea, wires and paper everywhere, madly typing with his hair sticking up from frustration. DG is born!
Now, if I were an aritist, I would draw that.
Jackie
LOL Too funny.... I may have to try drawing that sometime.
Welcome! It looks like you have a commission, cant wait to see Dave browbeating on his computer!
LOL Yes, when I get some time I think I might attempt the "Great Dave's Garden Dave" drawing... Could be fun
Thanks for the welcome. I'm enjoying being here.
Welcome Amuckey'
DG is the greatest. WARNING , it's addicting. What are the flowers in your hanging basket at the top of this thread?
Lynda
Thanks Lynda, I have noticed that this place can be all consuming. ;-) I find something new every time I come in here.
The flowers are petunias. I believe they are "Proven Winner". Wish they had them in the "Wave" variety, you don't have to dead head them. They sure did well this summer. I try to get some every year.... These are my favorite color.
