Does anyone no how to propagate the million bells calicrachoas and surfinias? One plant file said, to propagate the million bells, take a herbaceous cutting. What the heck is that? I love these two plants and hope to over winter them, but if I can't I'd like to propagate them now.
calibrachoas and surfinias
'Herbaceous', in this case, refers to a cutting that is not yet lignified (become woody). Take a cutting from the middle of the stem that has 3-4 nodes on it. Tip cuttings do not work as well as intermediate cuttings. Trim leaves from the bottom 2-3 nodes and stick in damp perlite or other sterile, coarse/well-aerated medium so 1 or 2 nodes with leaves are above the soil. I usually do 1 above soil - 2-3 below. Site in bright light but not direct sun. Loose tenting to slow transpirational loss, and a hormonal rooting aid may be helpful, but I've never found either necessary.
