CLOSED: I need advice!

San Diego, CA(Zone 10b)

Hi guys,
I think I am going through my first bad trading experience after several wonderful trades....For those of you with more experience than me: how long should one wait after contacting the other side many times before leaving bad feedback?

Please understand: I really don't like to do this but I've been following some threads where people urge those who had bad experiences to save their time and money by leaving feedback on bad trades.

What is the rule of thumb? And NO I WILL NOT burn this person in front of the whole world and I will not give any details here! I am just wandering how much longer I should wait. It's been about a month since they've received my side of our trade...

Thanks for any advice!
Rob

I think you have waited long enough if you have contacted them several times and nothing. I am a good one to give advice. I have had many many trades and never have I had a bad one. BEV

I'm not asking for details, but these are the questions I would ask myself before leaving negative feedback.

Is your trader responding to your d-mails?

If not, is he/she still posting on DG?

If not, is he/she in a part of the country that might have been affected by recent
storms and still have loss of power?

Then I would google using the person's name, town, and state to see if there is news of an accident or death.

In a month a person, under normal circumstances, should have been able to send his/her end of the trade or at least let you know why it has not been sent and when it will.

Thank you guys. Yes, a month is a very long time, but Patrob, excellent point, I had not considered recent storms, etc, that is very possible.
Thank you both for your advice. I will close this thread as the little advice I got here is worth tons and I don't want to create too much drama in the forum!
Thanks!

Patrob has some excellent points. If you want to do a bit of investigating and see if the person in question is still posting here on DG just type their user name in the search box at the top right of this, or any screen and click on "search forums." It will show all of the threads that person has posted to and the dates. You could get an idea of the last time they posted to see if they are still around.

A month is a long time to wait for finalization of a trade unless it was something agreed to up front. If the person has not responded to your d-mails and you don't see any recent posts by them lately, I would assume they may have had some personal or family emergency or something. Has the person been a member of DG for awhile? Have you checked the feedback they have received from previous trades to see what their trade history has been like?

I hope that it was just a misunderstanding on your trade partner's end and that maybe they just forgot. I use the TradeTracker feature here on DG but I know many don't. Good luck and I hope you are able to finalize the trade soon.
