My little Sebright roo Speckles died today. We don't really know why. He had been acting funny for quite sometime and looked depressed and pale but he ate like normal. I'd bring him scraps and oats and he would scarf them up. But he would just sit around all puffed up looking sad and pale and he wouldn't even crow anymore. He was a very special little bird with quite the personality. I'll miss him greatly. The yard is just not the same without him.
What really sucks is just yesterday our big roo Sir Fozworth Peckfellow (Fozzie) died. He had gotten his leg hurt some time ago and went downhill since. His comb and waddles were pale but a few days ago got darker again. We also lost our roo Splits a couple of weeks ago. And my daughters cat died a little over a week ago. I don't think I can take another pet death.
My heart is broken, I'm so sad.
God Bless You, I have gone through many pet deaths and I know how you feel.

Oh no! I'm so sorry for your loss.. I hope all gets better for you soon.
"Just a Chicken"? I don't think any of us comprehend the meaning of that... they are all special to us. that's why we're crazy enough to be on a forum that stictly talks about chickens. ;-)
He was an adorable little guy and a beautiful big guy. My heart goes out to you!
So sorry for your loss...know the feeling...I'm sure he is having fun and stirring up some ruckus in Chicky Heaven...God bless him and your family !!
I cut some cantaloupe earlier and brought the shells out to the chickens to peck. It was not easy. I always gave Speckles his own little piece.
No he wasn't "just a chicken" though there are probably plenty of people that would say that.
He was my "Little big man" That's what I always called him.
