cemba33 - I love it! If I had more girls (and/or boys) I'd have something like this!

Good Luck! I love coops too!

Cemba - great coop! And great looking occupants too! One thing I would say is that you might want to paint the OSB on the inside for ease of cleaning? I didn't paint my nest boxes initially and it's hard to scrape that stuff down and it tends to chip out.

Is that vertical metal siding you used? It looks terrific!

Dighton, MA

Alright, I never thought about that! It is a special wood shed siding I got from the Home Depot. Its really easy because it comes in sheets they call it, and they over lap.!

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

You could always look into the shower board, too! Its fabulous for cleaning! :)

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Nice! I'm going to look at my Home Depot for that too! And the shower board. Very useful items. I am building a coop now, but haven't got progress pictures yet.

I really like your idea of the isolation units. Always good in case of sickness or injury or whatever. I have 2 hens growing back feathers right now and they are in isolation for that reason.

In the back view, looks like you have a set of nest boxes. What are they doing there? Are they in use? They look like they should be!

Dighton, MA

Yeah I havent took the time to put them up! Do you think 2 nesting boxes is two less? I only get lik 6-9 eggs a fay but i have alot more hens I always wonder, but never see them around the yard.

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

How many hens? I think you can have 1 nesting box per 3-4 hens. So 2 nest boxes for 6-8 hens, etc.

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

Yep, that's what I've read also. :)

Sugar Valley, GA(Zone 7b)

Thanks for that info Ladies...I was about to build about 20 or so ... LOL

Hey! I found the tileboard at Menards tonight. It was 10% off so I got two sheets for $12 apiece. Looks like tiles with masonite on the back. Does the masonite part ever get all mushy if it gets wet? How do you stop it from getting wet? Silicone? (the tube kind, not the boob kind). :-)

I got some that is called "mauve whisper" except there is no mauve on it if you ask me. It is cream with peach and green hints to it. Sort of pastel-ish.

Some what, Claire?!!

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Tileboard silly! I know what you were thinkin...I re-read my post and see where your mind was headed....tsk tsk tsk...

Clarkson, KY

thought tile board was always white! Maybe with a few tacky flowers. Mauve whisper was out there!

I actually sell my eggs to locals. I have my own business. "River View Farm" Farm Fresh Eggs!! I am only 16 : ) And started with 2 hens 5 years ago, now I ahve over 25 hens!!
