Would love to find this gentle guy a home. We need to sell any we can't use and no one around here needs anything but meat! Kaptein, Ram H Tobias, Live Oak, Cloud Dancing. Dang y'all. He's almost worth selling all my does, but they are the same stock!! Any ideas?
Not enough forage around here after 2 years of drought to feed any extras. 18mos old. I believe we'll have kids from him in 2 mos as he snuck in to see the girls when the fence was not right. Never been anywhere but to get his shots...
Startrek needs a home!
hmmm grownet.. almost worth meetin halfway???
Woah! That's a lot of goats! Opal is very excited about this!
Opal can come visit her Granny!!! She will have friends!!
That is maybe 1/16 th of the herd of over 350 that are between here and another 60 acres piece...Those were up to be vetted...the rest are in the back 40...We have about 230 here at the moment...
thud...
(that was Opal passing out, and I'm right behind her!)
THUD....
lol... is there a goat fairy that I need to dodge too!
LOL Anj... Only if you like Boer meat Goats.. they are not milkers, and have no fancy angora hair to mow off and spin into yarn, and they don't faint.....
Moxon, I expect stronger stuff of you and my GrandGoat...I told you, I have Opals room all ready upstairs next to mine...in the Nursery...LOL
As my children would say ... HOLY FLOCK! (or in this case herd)
[THUD]
but they are soooo cute!
Grownut, Perhaps you would consider giving a call to Joel Salantin to offer StarTrek for sale for breeding at his Sustainable Farm in West Virginia.

That sounds wonderful! Looking everywhere for options. Rotten when you have a beautiful male and no place to keep him. Not to mention not enough food for 2 yrs running... thank you all!!
That is a shame Grow...We got 5 cuttings...Just baled the last one Monday and he's got it out in the wagons in the barn for sale...Got more than he needs this year...
We got one (cutting). Goats for hay....? Not really sure what we'll need to do. There's a goat buyer who buys meat goats every Saturday. 3 bucks I can sell for that, but this one's too pretty to let go easily. The breeder we got our stock from is checking with a couple of people she knows who like that line...so maybe. DH would really kick at my paying (gas etc.) to give him away. Dunno.
Dusty
Where in Ohio are you, do you still have hay and what is it going for a bale? Also, what kind of hay is it. Drought cut our supply.
Here in Illinois, hay right now its anywhere from $3-$5 in Jan it can go up towards $20.
Straw is going for $2.5 a bale right now but again will go up in dead of winter.
This is for the 80# small bales, the large rounds are$35-40 right now. (hay)
Cajun... Google Urbana, 43078 We are just north of Springfield, and west of Columbus on Hwy 68...I don't know what he is asking, but I will find out tomorrow...There is plenty of hay up here this year...
Dusty--I just left Wooster Ohio. I love it. And the land and houses are cheap. What must I do to escape California?
Pack...Load..fill tank...put in gear, and head east...
I need tf's method of moving vast numbers of animals....and there is the little matter of selling the house and earning a living.
But get the welcome mat dusted off--cause I am coming East.
Beds made up and turned down, and the porchlight is on...1st door on yer left down the hall on the second floor, or ifn ya take tooo long...ya gotta head on up to the guest suite on the 3rd floor...Stairway will be to yer right at the top of the second landing... LOL
Cat,
I feel your pain. I'd love to take advantage of the low house prices right now, but that means taking a hit on the selling price of mine. MAN! I just want some land!
I was driving with my colleague from OARDC down beautiful tree-lined street with huge lawns and lovely old homes in the better University part of town and he looks at me and says they cost under $200 thousand.
He and his wife and children live in a beautiful old Victorian home with 26 acres and his wife sells vegetables etc to restaurants in Cleveland. They have sheep and chickens too. All on a University researcher's salary.
WAAAAAA!
He didn't know about Buckeyes however--he does now and is going to get some. The disease spreads.......envy is an ugly emotion.

The Chicken! Oooooo, tf is going to get you for dissing her breed.
And that link is just mean. It looks Georgian--what do they call it?
Dusty,
You taunt me! I could spend hours just looking at these pictures! What history! What beauty! That is a total dream home!
DH and I have dreamt of finding something with that much history and turning it into a B&B.
Thank you, Dearest Catscan, for spreading the word about Endangered American Breeds. For more info, please visit: www.albc-usa.org

Catscan - move to Iowa. You'd love it here...
But, if you decide to go further east, you are always welcome on a stopover in Iowa. We have a guest room (non-smoking only), and space for animals on the move. We can fix a decent meal and have plenty of wine, chocolate, and eggs to share! Come by anytime!
:0) You may regret that, Moxon. I don't, however, smoke.
and there is always an open room in Illinois.. no barn, but a very large animal garage, yard and plenty of housing food and extra people beds.. coffees on, welcome candles in the windows..
here in bam hay is 5 dollars a bale. somplaces are higher
$8 To $20 Here and some higher according to what you get.
