LOL,
Kathy, you'll need some ear plugs.
Also you can rest assured they will let you know if any man or beast comes around.
My dearest GM had a great flock of Peafowl.
When my aunt visited in her Chrysler loaded with Chrome trim, the males would display for their reflections for hours.
Next summer I am coming the weird way to Texas so I can visit you.
Sidney

Oh how eggciting. I want some but you know. I have my hands full now will have to back off of wanting anything right now. I will have extra help soon so all will be ok.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

lol i could do that, and wont tell hubby what they are. the surprise will be on him. :)

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

that would be funny!

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

oh BTW the cochin are laying again, but the egg got broke yesterday. One of them rubber eggs. Plus i got another girl laying just not sure which one it is. I know Gracie layed one yesterday morning, then yesterday afternoon found another eggs but the end was pecked out so. I put one of my hens in with Mr Bo Jangles to see if she will lay. I suspect that 3 of them are laying in the woods. I may need to buy an extra fridg to store eggs in. When I get a good stash going I will post up some flyers and post a sign out front. Eggs for sale. It is about time these girls pay for their upkeep.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

way to go. i need to send TF a check

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

No egg as of yet today but should be one in there this afternoon, I only have 1 so far. Not to bad tho, they got here sunday and they layed one sunday and then again yesterday. They didnt stress to much on the trip.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

thats good, like i said before it took jezebell a month

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Now the OEG are pouting real bad, they are upset with me. I put them in the top part of haven number 1 and they dont like it.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

oh poor babies

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

I sit out there talking to the birds and just looking at them and I am like OMG so much to do. I want to build pens for them all, separate them and get them breeding.

You know the saying Calgon take me away, Here is mine, Chicken Fairy come and lend me a hand. Then I will find the Calgon. What a haven of birds I have.

Clarkson, KY

(Zone 7b)

Jordan when you get your peacocks and they start laying i would love to get some eggs.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

got it harmony

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

are they like turkeys, lay only in the spring?

(Zone 7b)

This has to be a secret my DH says i can't have one cause their noisey SHHHHHHHHH mums the word.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

lol same here. that is what I am going to do. I will say holy crap look someone sent me the wrong eggs.

(Zone 7b)

I have wanted one for probably 6 years not and their size and noise people talk about stopped me.
But if i raise them from chicks shouldn't they be very attached to me and be gentle.
I heard they only are loud if you have a male by himself but i'm going to try are they like turkeys and you have to keep them away from chickens because of black head?

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

My hubbys aunt has raised them for years and they are so very gentle. Never a problem. I think they are loud during mating season?????

What is black head. My turkeys are with the chickens????

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

never heard of black head. please splain

(Zone 7b)

Sorry been outside cleaning up my garden..............Blackhead well i found out the hard way about that i got my DH 3 bronze turkey babys and they were so sweet i raised them in a pen till they were about half grown. Well i let them out because i was going to let them be free range and the two hens got real sick and their poo got loose and turned neon yellow/green. I had never had turkeys and called a friend and she said it was Blackhead and it was exsposure to chicken manure.
Seems theres something like the cocidiosis in chickens but it only affects turkeys my book said it was a protozoa carried by chickens and is in the poo and when the turkey is exposed to it they get blackhead and die.
But it doesn't affect them all the 2 hens died but the tom didn't we sold him because he was lonely.

Interesting, never heard of it. I don't remember seeing chickens and turkeys seperated around my area. Curious, I've been thinking about pecocks too. Is this a common problem, are they suseptable too?

(Zone 7b)

Don't know about peacocks.
