I've been looking high and low for the variety of lettuce seed called Sierra, a French Crisp Batavian type. Does anyone know a seed company that handles this one?
Who has this seed?

I don't know anything about this company, but they are supposed to have it.
Fedco has been carrying it. They are closed for the season tho. Swallowtail lists it http://www.swallowtailgardenseeds.com/veggies/summercrisp.html
Swallowtail really is a good place to buy from - great growth rate to.
Thanks to all of you. Swallowtail did indeed have the seed and I whipped out my handy dandy plastic card and bought some. Can't understand why more companies don't carry the Sierra lettuce...it's simply great lettuce!
Unlike most of the international companies, Vilmorin seems to have a very small presence in North America. Vilmorin products are pretty hard to find.
Now my curiousity is aroused, Farmerdill. Vilmorin is an international company which produces the Sierra lettuce seed? Where is this company's headquarters located?
Sierra's a relative of Nevada, which is a really great lettuce I grew for the first time this year.
France http://www.vilmorin.info/vilmorin/index.aspx?lang=FR&site=VCC They claim 4th place among the world seed developers.
"Magenta (52 days) – An improved Sierra from Johnny’s
Seeds. Darker red leaves form a whorled, conical head
with a crunchy green heart."
So I guess there are several varities of "Sierra."
I wonder if this one has the qualities you are looking for.

I have grown Magenta French Crisp lettuce, and it's a good one. However, Sierra still beats it for both eye appeal and taste in my opinion.
