Moodene ~ I am so sorry you are having to go thru this. I look at the photos of damage from IKE and can't help but think of the Phoenix bird rising from the ashes. It will be different but it will be beautiful again. Hang in there.

(Nadine) Devers, TX(Zone 9b)

Thank you. I will rebuild again..I am not gonna move away since this is my grandparents place that was given to me..I am having couple things on paper what to do to rebuild my place so these guys that my son hires will know what I want to do with all the trees and limbs--goes into the mulch pile..lol...

I keep telling myself..this ole lady will survive!!...lol

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

That is the mindset! At times I wish for a huge shredder like the power line trimmers use... maybe a guy or two to run it also. LOL

(Nadine) Devers, TX(Zone 9b)

LOL..couple nice looking hunks!!...mmmm....

Nadine, my sister drove by your house yesterday on the way to take my mother back home in Orange. She called me and described your place. I was heartbroken.

I know you will come through this stronger and you will survive the stress of it all. I hate you are having to go through it though.

Is there anything we can do? Your friends will pitch in just for the asking you know!

My mother has a provider that cleans house for her twice a week. That poor lady had a home in west Orange. Her son stayed behind and Janice (the provider) went for shelter elsewhere.

Her son wound up in the attic with their bird and dog for two days. He finally got a message out to his mom by cel phone. She sent help and they rescued him by boat.

They lost everything they owned other than some clothes. It was a rent house and they had no insurance.

Janice has cancer even though she is still working, but she is frail. Her son has no job now as his place of business where he was employed was totaled. FEMA has not helped them other than to pay for one month's stay. They can't find a place close enough to stay where Janice can work. Her son is not physically able to do clean-up work and that is now the only available work in the area. He worked as an accountant for a small company before and doesn't have an accounting degree to get a job for larger firms. All of the small places around the area are either destroyed or severly damaged.

Hey Texas folks. So sad to see your pictures. The last one that got me was Ivan and I am still trying to get downed trees moved off my property. Glad you are all safe and mad enough to dig out and survive!

Charlene, one of these days I will have my place looking sharp again..hopefully..I am not sure how many people it would take to clean this place up..LOL..my son is talking to some guys friends of mine to help do the tree dept..I can't say anything about my plants until I get out and survey them but those darn mean flying skeeters are everywhere..my son(home on leave- in the Army) is right now outside spraying some natural repellant for those dive bombers!! for the next few days...Thanks ya'll for thinking about me..

I will survive!!!...lol..

Colleyville, TX(Zone 8a)

Sorry to hear and see the destruction.

Rockport, TX(Zone 9a)

I'm so sorry to hear of all the damage and loss. I feel very lucky. I have two small holes in the roof and a big hole in the living room ceiling, but on almost every block around here there is a house that has been cleaved in two by an unrooted tree. I haven't taken pictures b/c it just seems wrong to marvel at the destruction and yet you can't help but marvel at the power of this storm.

This is the debris pile that was in front of my house. That's the roof of my house in the background. Everything has been removed already! I've been really lucky. I wish a speedy recovery for everyone or at least the endurance to get through the long recovery.

I have wondered about how folks made out, especially Moodene and the lady that posted from Boliver. So it's good to see you're up and at 'em, Moodene.

(Nadine) Devers, TX(Zone 9b)

Well my front yard is all cleared of tree debris...and mowed..there are 5 sections of my yard to clean up..1 down and 4 more to go..lol..

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

Moodene it is a big job. I don't know how big your place is but mine is not big but with my back it sure feels huge. I wish there was some way I could help you. I am not sure why this day and time except for DGers Our neighbors don't lend a hand. But it will get done. It will just take time.

I hope you did not lose much and may God multiply 10 times what everyone lost. I am sending a huge hug to you moodene as I remember when you came to see me and we met for the first time.
You brought me the bloom stem off of your papillo amaryllis. I still have not forgot how generous you were to bring that to me and you you still are a generous wonderful person. Give your son a Hug also.

(Nadine) Devers, TX(Zone 9b)

Sandy, I have a 5 acres yard with plants and trees..I also have 14 acres of woods as well..I am still cleaning up but very slowly..my son is leaving on October 9th to check in at Fort Hood Army base here in TEXAS-YEA !!! so he will be able to come home when he can to help me finish picking up tree limbs and tree debris..
Yes, I do remember that Amaryllis bloom I brought you and had a great time visiting with you.
Slowly I am getting back into swing of things.. I will not hold a round up here .. I have too much to do here by replanting more trees, rebuilding my back fence, and redoing my backyard which was badly tore up. Talk to ya'll in the funny papers..lol
Thanks.
Nadine
