....I know some people have been interested in Exotic Angel plants - I just ordered their Hoya "Stripes" which is actually curtisii - it's their featured plant of the month. Just fyi.

Not supporting one way or the other, but....
Karen,
I just saw EA's Hoya curtisii at my local Lowes, and it was incredible except for the fact that the Lowe's staffer's had killed it by over watering it to the point where it was sitting in a mud slurry and the roots appeared to be entirely rotted. I almost bought it anyway to use it for cuttings, but decided that $15.95 was too much to pay just for cuttings. Thanks for the info on being able to order it direct; I'm going to look into it.

I bought a large EA basket of H. curtisii about 1 1/2 years ago at Home Depot but that one did not do well for me at all and didn't survive. From day one it went downhill ... not sure what I did wrong, or rather didn't do right.
It's funny, our Lowes waters plants to death, everything seems to always be floating in water and Home Depot never waters their plants and everything is always very parched and dry. Also Lowes charges $15.97 for the large EA Hanging Basket Plants whereas HD charges $11.97. The smaller baskets at Lowes are $9.97 and at HD $7.97.
I have checked out the EA website a few times since they started selling on line. Awhile back they had H. longifolia listed for sale but were out of stock. There was a place you could click to put it on your wish list which I did. It showed up on my wish list for quite awhile and I kept checking back to see if it was available yet. Well, a couple of days ago when I checked my wish list is blank ... guess they aren't going to be having that one again! Of course we all know how EA plants (all kinds) are always mislabeled so maybe it wasn't even the longifolia they were actually selling!
Karen, I look forward to seeing photo's of your new H. curtisii when you receive it and I hope it does well for you. I've never even seen a photo of blooms for that one, will have to go google and see what they look like. The foliage is really pretty and different so blooms are just icing on the cake with that one!
Doug - Our Lowe's does the same thing - and I've found TONS of mealies on plants at Lowe's that I've looked at there. Needless to say, I didn't buy any!
Lin - I've killed more curtisii than I can shake a stick at - unsure what I did or didn't do - hoping this one survives!

Karen, please keep us posted on how it does for you.
I think mine may have gotten too much water. It was in the same location as other hoya on the hot, humid deck but in a shadier location. I water everything with the garden hose and it could very well be that I was not letting it dry out enough. I used to just buy a plant and hang it somewhere but now, especially with EA plants, the first thing I do is pull the saucer off the pots and throw them into the recycle bin, then remove the plant, wash off all the soil and repot in my chunky mix. Everything seems to do much better for me in a fast draining mix.
Just found some pic's of the blooms in PF: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/57686/ ... I love the foliage on curtisii but wow! the flowers are pretty nice too!
