I bought this in a pot early spring and put it at the base of a scrawny dogwood that I have a hook hanging from a branch that held the hummingbird feeder. I lost the plant label....
It was so pretty all summer with the vines growing up beside the hummingbird feeder. I can't help but think the birds were drawn to the feeder location by the flowers.
I need to bring it in for winter. Any suggestions? Will it flower indoors? I have a heated sunroom, pretty good light.
Is this a plumaria?
I vote for Mandevilla!
I was looking at pictures of a mendevilla, but I thought I remembered the name starting with a p.
Definately a mandevilla vine. Yes, you will need to bring it inside in winter as I believe it is zoned 9. I have one in a pot that sits inside a teepee type trellis. I will bring it into my sunroom this winter. Anyone know about how and when to prune?
Definately mandavilla and needs to be brought in for the winter.
I don't think there's a real "correct" time to prune. hack away! ;)

Good. I will hack it when I prepare to bring it indoors. That way it won't take up so much space.
You can try to root "the cuttings" either in water, or with root tone in a potting medium. Then you will have even more plants!
Texasgal, you mean the hackings? :)
Definitely Mandevilla --spray it with a systemic, then horticultural oil a week later, before bringing it inside. They are notorious for carrying mites.
Yes, Texasbigleaves, I know the expression "to hackem off". I was being facetious. See the little smile in my post?
Are you going to root your plumie, Jerry? Doesn't take long for the peices to root.
My Hawaiian Schefflera got a trim today. So I took some of the "cuttings" and stuck them down in pots of Miracle grow. Some will "take", some may not. Always fun to try. I have about four plants that took in the past. Later if they dry up, then I'll throw them out.
