Thanks for the 'big welcome'! This looks like a good place to be!
I've gardened off and on when I could fit it in... for 20 some years. This year I tried my version of square foot gardening -- I tried the 'sq ft' part (sectioned off the gardens in square foot sections and put one plant in each) , used raised beds that were completely compost that we made. WOW! I had a jungle of plants. Also watered gardens with 'grey water' from laundry ...that was wonderful with the dry summer we had. The gardens went nuts. I didn't plan well as far as giving the plants enough room, put too many plants in, and learned a LOT! I had 3 gardens, 1 veggie, 1 veggie/herbs, and one flower garden. Next year we'll have another for 'squashy' plants--- cukes, zukes, pumpkin etc. What we haven't eaten, we've dehydrated. The flower garden is beautiful, looking forward to adding more next year! This is a pic of the veggie garden at it's 'jungle' stage! Too many plants! There are several tomato, several kinds of peppers, acorn zucchini and pumpkins! not to mention basil, pineapple sage and cucumbers! There was lots of room when they were planted .... 8-) WAY too many plants for 4X24 garden. Live and learn!
